| ojeffso and I attended this tasting last night. It was a great opportunity to taste through many producers and different vintages (1994-2002). Since I know virtually nothing about Burgundy, it was a great learning experience. Here's what we tasted. The asterisks (*) refer to items that were very good or better.

| Sounds like a great tasting, Short. Did it make you want to buy anything in particular?

| Great question, jb. After this tasting, I do anticipate buying the 2002 Maison Verget Mersault Tete de Cuvee (a couple bottles for summer), the 2001 Comte de Vogue Chambolle-Musigny if I can find it for a good price when I'm in the position to buy, and maybe a few '99s since it's my wedding year and Mrs. STW adores Pinot Noir. | | | |

| Sounds like a great tasting. It looks like the D'Angerville wines showed well. That's a name I always look for. The wines are generally very good, the prices are reasonable, and the label is kewl (with apologies to TJ!). | | Heater Allen Brewing

It's kewl that you spell kewl correctly.

| d'Angerville is a producer in Burgundy, from the village of Volnay. The former Marquise d'Angerville led the fight against fraudulent practices (blending Rhone wines with Burgundy) by negociants back in the 30's. It's a little dated, but here's what Kramer said about d'Angerville,
"The wines of d'Angerville are for many Volnay fans, present company included, the epitome of what Volnay is or should be: delicate, fragrant wines of great finesse that are structured for long life. Oddly, his wines have not been lauded in recent years by journalists who descend on the Cote d'Or for exhaustive barrel tastings. Sometimes wines that show well in the barrel later turn out to be excessively oaky or just showy wines. The d'Angerville style, which is signature free, does not serve him well in this situation. The wines are marked down for lacking concentration or depth or character. In fact they emerge from the bottle six or eight or ten years after the vintage as Volnays of immense detail and formidable flavor impact."
If you see his wines, particularly with a little age on them, try them. | | Heater Allen Brewing
