| Me, me me!!! I want to party!! I'll be pouring at the big Staurday tasting thingy. This year, I plan on spending Saturday night in the area, rather than driving home. David - you should talk with Kimberly about a place to stay nearby. She's already got us reservations at this nice little place. I bet they'll have another room for you and Trish I'm thinking that dinner in SLO might be in order!!! More for David - was that your wording, or did the World of Pinot people actually use "115" as the number? I'm slightly suspicioius | | | |

| This is very tempting. Mr. Winetex went to school at Cal Poly and would enjoy a trip to his old stomping ground.
Thanks for the info! | | | |

| If WineTex goes, I might just have to go as well. Tack on DavidN, Brian Loring, etc... and it must be a winner. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |

| Brian,
115 is their number. And that "magic" number is also part of one of the free seminars. I want to go to this one:
“Terroir Expression: 2003 Barrel Samples” Taste the terroir! Eight winemakers from diverse appellations in California and Oregon will present barrel samples of 2003 Pinot Noir. Designed to showcase the true terroir of each appellation, all samples will be Clone115 , and neutral oak will be used. Winemakers will present 2 samples each, one whole-cluster fermentation, and the other using the destemmed/whole berry method. Wineries on this panel include: Arcadian, Calera Wine Company, Cuvaison, Domaine Alfred, Dutton-Goldfield Winery, Melville Winery, Patton Valley Vineyard, and Testarossa Vineyards.

| Tricia and I are heading south tomorrow (Thursday) to be there on time for the early sessions on Friday. We're meeting up with travelrep on Saturday. I'll think of all of you as I drown myself in wonderful Pinot and Burgundy. | | | |

| Just returned from sunny and beautiful So. Cal and the WOPN. Too much to summarize right now but it was great to meet DavidN and TriciaN. Sorry that more VC'ers weren't there. Great juice and a great setting over the Pacific to suck down that great juice!

| Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE!
101 wineries from California, 15 from Oregon, 9 from France and one each from Washington State, Germany and Australia. All pouring two, three or more of their best Pinot Noir.
A Friday night BASH with dinner cooked by Michel Richard or Citronelle in DC. I hope someone has that picture of me boogeing with Michel. I think Gary Pisoni's lady friend has it on tape. All was fine until Jim Clendenin tapped/bashed me on the shoulder and cut in. And man, the wines!
Somms to argue (uh, I should say:) discuss anything including Belinda Chang from Fifth Floor SF, Bernabe DeLuna of Highlands Inn Carmel, Christie Dufalult from Gary Danko SF, Joshua Nelson of The Kitchen in Sacratomato, Peter Palmer of Farllon SF, Rajat Parr of the Mina Group, Scott Tracy from La Touque Rutherford Napa Valley, William Sherer from Atelier NY, and more...
And meeting Mr and Mrs Travelrep; we only had about 45 minutes together so we only shared maybe 150 wines together. All I can say Richard is you should have seen Saturday!
I'll try and report some of the happenings but there was so much it will be difficult.

| Mrs. T-Rep and I were only at the Friday afternoon tasting, which as DavidN said, had an unbelievable amount of good juice. The Saturday line up was even more impressive and I wish that we could have attended that as well, but since we had to get back to DC on Sunday morning from LAX, we couldn't do it. So David, what did I miss on Saturday??
Highlights of the Friday tasting...meeting winemakers/winery owners such as Bob Cabral, Wes Hagen, David Adelsheim, Steve Pepe, the guys from Kosta Browne, etc., etc.....drinking juice from wineries that were always on my hit list...Kosta Browne, Miner, Dumol, Clos Pepe, Paul Hobbs, and on and on. And of course, the Cliffs Resort was a perfect venue for this event. The weather on Friday was spectacular...temps in the mid 60's, not a cloud in the sky. The sunset over the Pacific was quite the sight as well. All in all, a wonderful day but I can only hope that we can attend next year's event and take part in more than just the Friday tasting.
