Greetings:

Join us Wednesday, May 14th, from 6:00-7:30pm, when we welcome Andy Erickson, winemaker of Screaming Eagle to Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant.

That's right, we said Screaming Eagle. This is the tasting many of you have been looking forward to for months. Andy Erickson, heralded winemaker, will be joining us to guide attendees through a three vintage vertical (2003 - 2005) of this legendary wine. This is the wine that is impossible to buy, difficult to get on the mailing list, and is rarely available for tasting. Yet, the lucky 70 people who sign up for this sit-down tasting will have access to a mini-vertical led by the winemaker along with Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant partner, Debbie Zachareas.

DUE TO THE EXTREME SCARCITY OF THIS RARE WINE, PLEASE NOTE THE IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CHANGES TO OUR NORMAL TASTING FORMAT BELOW!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!:

Due to the scarcity of wine there are some significant differences to our normal tasting format:

1. Location: This will take place upstairs in the Port Commission Hearing Room, not in our Wine Bar.

2. Time: It starts at 6PM sharp for all attendees instead of our normal 4:30 to 7:30 come when you will format.

3. Price: The price for this unique event will be $125 per person, plus tax and gratuity for a total of $158, non-refundable.

4. Reservations: With so little wine available, we must limit this tasting to the first 70 people who make a reservation by responding to Debbie Zachareas' email: debbie@fpwm.com

She will not be taking reservations until Tuesday, April 1st.
Emails requesting reservations prior to that date will not be considered. KINDLY DO NOT CALL THE SHOP OR OFFICE TO MAKE A RESERVATION, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! Debbie is the sole person taking reservations and will only be taking them through her email address starting on Tuesday, April 1st. The emails will be time-stamped and will be processed in order of receipt. Reservations will be limited to a maximum of four seats per request, no exceptions.

5. Payment: Debbie will be collecting credit card information when confirming your reservation. At that time she will be charging your account $158 per person. This payment will act as your confirmation of the reservation, will guarantee your place at this tasting, and will be non-refundable. Once the reservation is made and the limited attendance is sold out, all transactions are final.

These conditions are necessary only because the amount of wine is extremely limited, of course, and we expect the demand for this remarkable event will far out-strip the supply of seats we have available.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing you at this exceptional evening of outstanding wines.

The featured wines are served as one ounce glasses.

The cost of the flight will be $125 and will include the following wines:

2003 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville, Napa Valley

2004 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville, Napa Valley

2005 Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville, Napa Valley

Hope to see you all there!
Debbie, Peter, Bo and the entire FPWM team.

I'm sure it's nice wine. But at $158 for three oz of wine and gratuity, I'm grateful it doesn't tickle my fancy.

OMG. If it was 1959 Mouton that would be one thing. But a new release, 3 ounces, $158... that is a no-brainer.

I was tempted, but I'm scheduled to be out of the country on business. The downside is that they have crappy glasses and 3 oz isn't much.

But sometimes it's fun to drink the hype

Greetings:

Thank you all for your overwhelming and nearly instantaneous response to our Screaming Eagle tasting invitation. The extremely limited 70 seat capacity, due to the rarity of the wine, sold out in a matter of minutes. We are sorry we could not accommodate more people and realize there are many disappointed wine fans who wanted to attend this landmark event.

This tremendous response is clearly a tribute to this amazing brand. From the first vintage in 1992, Heidi Barrett crafted these wines with her signature, legendary finesse. The three vintages featured on May 14th represent the final chapter of Heidi's amazing work at Screaming Eagle. The response to this tasting is also an enthusiastic nod to Jean Phillips, the winery's founder.

Andy Erickson, the winemaker at Screaming Eagle since being hired mid-2006, will be on hand as a representative of the new team. Stanley Kroenke and Charles Banks purchased the property just over two years ago.

Thank you again for your energetic interest and for your continued loyalty to Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant and Oxbow Wine Merchant.

Cheers,

Debbie, Peter, Bo and the entire FPWM team.

Don't flip them, hold a tasting and charge $158 dollars for 3oz!  That is 8 x 158 = $1264 a bottle!  Man a lot of people are going to be dissapointed after this tasting... 2 sips a wine.  I for one cannot really sit down and enjoy wine to its full extent if I am always worrying that it is my last sip, or that I cant get a full mouthfull.

I was impressed with the 2004 SE at our cult cab tasting.  Not my favorite, but near the top.  Since it was a shared cost tasting, I ended up paying $42 or so for my 2 oz.
