Greetings:

Join us Wednesday, March 5th, from 4:30-7:30pm, when we welcome Tor Kenward, owner of TOR Kenward Family Wines to our Wine Bar. Tor is an old friend to many of us here at Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant. He spent nearly three decades with Beringer Vineyards working as Vice President and winery spokesman, developing relationships with the trade and with many of the finest growers in Napa Valley. After living in wine country for so long, learning the inside scoop on the best grape sources, Tor counted many of the premier vineyard owners as close friends. This proved invaluable in 2001 when he retired from Beringer and started TOR Kenward Family wines with his wife, Susan. Their small wine company was to be based on single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignons and Chardonnays. Recently, they have added another label to their portfolio, ROCK, dedicated to the Syrah grape. Coincidentally, TOR is an ancient word for ROCK.

Tor had been making at least one barrel of wine each vintage for thirty years using grapes from many prized vineyards. "I had great mentors, Ed Sbragia and Bob Steinhauer, encouraging me to make wine and grow grapes. We had different approaches, but shared the same passion: great wine, and how to make it." The production on TOR wines is minsicule, although they have an impressive list of wines they produce that bear the names of an all star cast of vineyards.

We are sure you will enjoy meeting this charming, soft-spoken man who, though sophisticated and erudite, has a personality as comfortable as your favorite pair of shoes. Help us welcome Tor Kenward to the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant as he guides us through a tour of his single vineyard wines from Napa and Sonoma. If you enjoy distinctive, powerful wines that show the character and sense of place of a specific site then this is an evening you will long remember. You might even end up saying his wines exhibit a unique Tor-roir!

Greetings:

Join us Wednesday, March 19th, from 4:30-7:30pm, when we welcome Five Green Valley Wineries to our Wine Bar. Being the week of Saint Patty's Day we knew we weren't going to serve green beer or even worse green wine, so instead we decided to invite wineries from Green Valley to honor the Irish. We thought it would be a tasty way of bringing wine country to the Ferry Plaza and save you a trip up north. We have five stellar wineries representing this small region within the Russian River Valley that are producing some top notch Pinot Noir. They proudly proclaim that Green Valley is the coolest, foggiest part of the area. Our love of Pinot Noir knows no bounds, so here is a perfect opportunity to taste several different ones in a single sitting. We will start with a bubbly version of the grape from Iron Horse, their deliciously rich Wedding Cuvee, then once the palates are warmed up we head on to taste some of our latest favorites from Dutton Estate, Orogeny, Marimar Estates, and Dutton-Goldfield. There will be folks from each winery on hand to share their first hand knowledge of these lovely wines as they wander from table to table. So bring your passion for Pinot, your sharp palate, your curiosity and your best questions about this increasingly popular growing region for an evening that is sure to bring a smile to your lips.

Help us welcome The Pride of Green Valley to the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant as we taste through a line up of several distinctive wines from some top vineyard sites.
