| Greetings: Come meet world-renowned author Jancis Robinson, M.W., winner of the 1995 Wine Literary Award, at Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant in the historic Ferry Building in San Francisco on Thursday, November 1st. Ms. Robinson will be signing copies of the new, World Atlas of Wine, Sixth Edition, from 11:30am to 1:30pm and again from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Books will be on hand to purchase. If you cannot make the event but would like to purchase signed copies, please contact us at (415) 391-9400.
Hailed by critics worldwide as "extraordinary" and "irreplaceable," there are few volumes that have had as monumental an impact in their field as The World Atlas of Wine: sales have exceeded four million copies, and it is now published in thirteen languages. World-renowned authors Jancis Robinson and Hugh Johnson once again combine their unrivaled talents to enhance this masterpiece of wine knowledge. There are now 48 extra pages, including 17 new color illustrations, 20 new maps, and-for the first time ever-double page spreads and full-page photos in the atlas section for maximum visual impact.
In addition to having Ms. Robinson on hand for book signing and the pleasure of her company, we will be offering a specially selected flight of wines at our Wine Bar that we believe Jancis would love. You can meet this world famous wine author and personality, purchase a book, have her sign it, and then retire to our Wine Bar and peruse your personalized copy as you enjoy a special flight of wines. What a perfect day as well as a perfect gift (hint, hint ;>). This is one wine book that neither you nor your favorite wine lover should be without.
The featured wines are served as two ounce glasses. If you find a favorite, the wines are also offered as full glasses. The wines will be available for retail sale while supplies last…
The cost of the flight will be $20 and will include the following wines:
2006 Pey Marin Riesling, Marin County, California Retail $22, 5oz. glass $7.50
2006 Cambiata Albarino, Monterey County, California Retail $20, 5oz. glass $7

| Greetings: Join us Wednesday, November 7th, from 4:30-7:30pm, when we welcome Gary Brookman, winemaker extraordinaire, to our Wine Bar. Gary is a true Napa Valley artisan responsible for making some of the finest wines coming from that growing region. The stellar list of wineries where Gary is the winemaker includes Grace Family Vineyards, Miner Family Winery, his own winery of course, Brookman Cellars, as well as Carver-Sutro Vineyards. On this special evening we will taste the Grace Blank Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, the Miner Family "Oracle" Red, the Brookman Cabernet Sauvignon, and, to top it all off, the Carver-Sutro Petite Sirah. What a night!
In 1979, Gary Brookman was on vacation as a young tourist in Australia and ran out of money. It was harvest season Down Under, and he found a temporary job launching his career in the wine business. Obviously, Gary is now one of the more sought after winemakers in Napa Valley; his deft winemaking hand is the reason why. His experience includes winemaking at Phelps for 13 years and Franciscan Oakville Estate for 2 years, before taking the reins at Miner Family in 1997. In 2001 Gary was invited by Dick Grace to make the wines for the prestigious Grace Family Vineyards. Besides being the person responsible for the Carver-Sutro wines, Gary also consults for a handful of other Napa wineries.
If you are a fan of big, rich, powerful Napa reds then this is the tasting event you want to attend. We are proud to offer this rare opportunity to taste such a varied collection of some tasty wines crafted by this one very talented winemaker. Please join us and help us welcome Gary Brookman to the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant.
The featured wines are served as two ounce glasses. If you find a favorite, the wines are also offered as full glasses. These boutique wines will be available for retail sale while supplies last…
The cost of the flight will be $35 and will include the following wines:
2005 Grace Family Blank Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford (retail: $130, 5oz. glass $36)
2003 Miner Family Winery "Oracle" Red Wine, Napa Valley (retail: $65, 5oz. glass $18)
2004 Brookman Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley (retail: $60, 5oz. glass $17)
2004 Carver-Sutro Vineyards Petite Sirah, Napa Valley (retail: $48, 5oz. glass $14)
Hope to see you all there! Debbie, Peter, Bo and the entire FPWM team.

| From SF Wine Trading Company
Please join us this Saturday, November 10, from 2-5:30pm, for a special tasting of the following outstanding wines from the Rhone valley. Complete tasting is $10. In addition, enjoy 15% off the following wines through Saturday, November 10th.
The Rhône Valley
2006 Côtes du Rhône, Gramenon, Viognier $31.95 ($27.16) Gramenon is one of Kermit Lynch's latest and greatest acquisitions. This prestigious producer makes small amounts of red and white wines from the Rhône Valley that are known the world throughout. This CDR Blanc is composed exclusively from Viognier and shares much in common with their regal neighbor to the north, Condrieu. Unlike Condrieu, Gramenon's CDR Blanc is an exceptional value and at no expense to the impeccable quality of this distinctive, highly-aromatic white wine.
2002 Coindreau, Château Grillet $72.00 ($61.20) Located on the right bank of the Rhône River, close to Condrieu, Château Grillet is the only single estate appellation in France. With 8.6 acres, Château Grillet is also one the smallest estates in all of Condrieu. This full-bodied aromatic white is rarely found outside of the Northern Rhône Valley where it is coveted for its richly perfumed and floral bouquet, sweet citrus notes and robust minerality.
2002 Hermitage Blanc, J-L Chave $160.00 ($136.00) "The 2002 Hermitage blanc exhibits abundant amounts of acacia flowers, honeyed citrus, and a hint of orange marmalade in a ripe, elegant, medium-bodied style. Because of its low acidity, it is best consumed during its first 5-7 years of life. What Chave accomplished in the extremely challenging 2002 vintage is unquestionably noteworthy. Not because of tiny yields and small grapes, but due to Chave's decision to eliminate every grape except the very best, 2002 is a small crop." (90 Wine Advocate)
2004 Saint-Joseph, Chave, Offerus $29.95 ($25.46) One hundred percent Syrah from the rolling hills of Saint-Joseph and the gently guiding hand of winemaker, Jean-Louis Chave. An exceptional wine of great nobility and flare and at a bargain basement price considering that Chave's current release Hermitage is going for no less than $300.00 per bottle! Lovely black cherry and blackberry notes are followed by notes of tar, violets and clove.
2004 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Charbonnière, Cuvée Perdrix $42.95 ($36.51) "The single-vineyard Chateauneuf du Pape, the 2004 Mourre des Perdrix, has a slightly darker ruby color than its sibling and more garrigue notes intermixed with plenty of ground pepper, resiny pine forest, raspberry, and kirsch liqueur notes. It is medium to full-bodied, soft, elegant, pure, and beautifully balanced. Drink it over the next 7-10 years. Proprietor Michel Maret makes classic Chateauneuf du Papes that drink well young yet have the ability to age for 10-15 years. His 1998s are just starting to hit their prime. I suspect 2004 will mature more quickly, but his 2005s will be very long-lived wines. The style emphasizes structure, loads of Provencal typicity and impressive purity and overall balance." (90 Wine Advocate)
2004 Corans, Clape $78.95 ($67.11) "There are always two cuvees of Cornas, and like some of the most traditional producers I taste, the wines are often better out of bottle than the barrel and/or foudre samples. That is the case with 2004, where both wines revealed significantly more flavor and intensity than they did last year. The 2004 Cornas, which is essentially a selection of their older vines, has zesty acidity, an opaque purple color, full-bodied power, and wonderful sweet blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with some smoke, scorched earth, and new saddle leather. It's a beauty, rich, full, and while accessible, it promises to last for 12-15 years." (92 Wine Advocate)
2006 Côtes du Rhône, Gramenon, Cuvée Ceps Centenaires $54.95 ($46.71) There are multiple cuvées produced at Gramenon but the Ceps Centenaires is by far the crown jewel of this small estate. Composed of 100 year old vines as the name implies, this limited cuvée is produced from organic vineyards with virtually no sulfur added, and as is the case with all of their wines bottled without fining or filtration. Dark and tannic with plenty of spice, the Ceps Centenaires also shows copious amounts of black plum and red raspberry fruit. The acidity is bright and refreshing and the tannins are present but extremely elegant and fine-grained.

| Greetings: Join us Wednesday, November 14th, from 4:30-7:30pm, when we welcome Wendell Laidley and Juan Mercado, Proprietors of Realm Cellars, along with Mike Hirby, Winemaker to our Wine Bar.
“This blessed plot, this earth, this realm...†The Tragedy of King Richard II
Those famous words by William Shakespeare not only described England during that historical period and were poignantly used by Winston Churchill to inspire the citizenry of that island nation during the dark days of World War II, but they also became the namesake for this relatively new winery in Napa Valley. Realm Cellars was founded in 2002 with a dedication to producing small production lots of wine made from Bordeaux varietals. They continue to gather loads of critical attention with their stylish lineup of distinguished red wines. This tiny company can best be described as a collaboration of three intense individuals with a passion for wine: Wendell Laidley and Juan Mercado, Proprietors, and Mike Hirby, Winemaker. Their motto is “The best fruit from the best vineyards.†To that end they have purchased grapes from some of the premier vineyard locations and viticulturists in Napa Valley. Tragically, their second vintage, the 2003, perished in a warehouse fire along with their library of the inaugural 2002 wines. Having an historical connection with Shakespeare must have its dangers. Fortunately, their terrific 2004 vintage was still in barrel safely at the winery. Now we are all anxiously awaiting the much anticipated 2005 wines. These deeply flavored, dark hued beauties come from a variety of vineyard sources and have unique names to specify their pedigree and heritage. Obviously, "The Bard" and "The Tempest" are an homage to Mr. Shakespeare, while the others are vineyard designates.
On this special night at Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant, we are proud to offer a pre-release tasting of Realm's upcoming wines that will be on the market shortly after the New Year. This unique opportunity is a rare occasion to taste collectible wine prior to its release. Suffice it to say, very few wineries of this stature with such intense demand for their wines allow us to stage an event of this nature. We hope you can take advantage of this generous offer on the part of Realm Cellars, especially if you enjoy distinctive, full-bodied, powerful red wines from Napa Valley. Please join us and help us provide a warm welcome to the Realm Cellars crew when they visit the Ferry Plaza. Come meet the owners and winemaker and quiz them on their wines, their philosophy, their vineyard preferences, even on some Shakespeare trivia. Ask them to finish the quote with the fourth line. What the heck! After you taste these wines "Measure for Measure" you will surely feel "All's Well that Ends Well." We can guarantee this evening will not be "Much Ado About Nothing" and much more "As You Like It!"
Important Notes: "The Bard" is only available through the winery after it is released in 2008. You can order it directly from Realm Cellars, but not through Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant.
The other wines will also not be available for purchase until early 2008, but this special event will be a sneak preview. After the tasting you may choose your favorites and submit a pre-order to guarantee snagging some of these beauties for yourself. Each wine is made in micro-quantities ranging from 100 to 500 cases so they go fast once they are released.
The featured wines are served as two ounce glasses. If you find a favorite, the wines are also offered as full glasses.
The cost of the flight will be $45 and will include the following wines:
2005 Realm Cellars "The Tempest" Red Wine, Napa Valley (retail: $68, 5oz. glass $20)
2005 Realm Cellars "The Bard" Red Wine, Napa Valley (5oz. glass $22)
2005 Realm Cellars Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, St. Helena (retail: $85, 5oz. glass $24)
2005 Realm Cellars Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville (retail: $97, 5oz. glass $27)
2005 Realm Cellars Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Coombsville (retail: $85, 5oz. glass $24)
Hope to see you all there! Debbie, Peter, Bo and the entire FPWM team.

| THIS WEEKEND: Russian River Pinot Release Party! November 17 (1:00 – 6 PM) Join us in Oakland as Lost Canyon Winery celebrates the release of its newest Russian River Pinot. On Saturday, November 17, the winery will be celebrating the arrival of the 2006 Widdoes Vineyard Pinot Noir with a release party from 1 PM to 6 PM. This brand-new wine brings Lost Canyon’s single-vineyard Pinot Noir offerings to four, in addition to the three vineyard-designate Syrahs as well as a Viogner.
The 2006 Widdoes is a structured Pinot, with a nose of black cherry and violets. The wine also features tones of white pepper, minerals and spice. Tannins are supple and soft, with a satisfying finish. In this first vintage, Lost Canyon produced fewer than 335 cases of the Widdoes Vineyard Pinot Noir.
"Widdoes is our Goldilocks vineyard. It has the perfect amount of structure to support a mouthful of Russian River fruit, it is 'just right.' The first time I tasted these grapes, I knew I had to make wine with them" says Lost Canyon’s Jack States.
