Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant

Greetings:

Join us Wednesday, July 25th, from 4:30-7:30pm, when we welcome Jeff Morgan, Owner and Winemaker, Solo Rosa Winery, to our Wine Bar. Here’s a quiz question for you: How many “new world” wineries are devoted to only making dry rosé wines? Give up? The answer is one: Solo Rosa. This finely focused winery was started by Jeff Morgan (who has written a book on rosé) and Daniel Moore, two winemakers who fell in love with the European style of dry rosé. Think Pink is the theme of the evening here at Ferry Plaza when Jeff shares two of his rosé wines from Solo Rosa along with an array of fine pink wines from around the world. Many people don't take pink wine very seriously, but this tasting will change that tune as we explore the wonderful world of wine through rose-colored glasses.

Jeff Morgan has had quite the varied career, starting out as a jazz musician, then establishing himself as a respected wine writer, and now he has his hands in several winemaking projects. He is perhaps better known as a wine writer than a winemaker. He was the West Coast Editor for the Wine Spectator from 1995 through 1999, and still writes as a freelancer for various food and wine publications. Jeff is also the author of Dean & DeLuca; The Food and Wine Cookbook and The Working Parents Cookbook. He has recently written the first book in America on his favorite subject: Rosé, A Guide to the World's Most Versatile Wine. And most recently, he has written The PlumpJack Cookbook; Recipes for Living Well. Jeff also teaches at the Rudd Center for Professional Wine Studies at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, where he lives. So join us as we revel in the splendors of Rosé and learn about this often overlooked wine genre from the man that literally wrote the book on the subject.

To enhance your wine tasting we are also offering, as an option, a carefully selected plate of sliced meats from Golden Gate Meats: a little prosciutto, some spicy coppa ham, and a bit of air-dried bresaola. What's not to like?
Cost of the plate: $10
