I went this past weekend for the 30th edition of RRV-BTW. This year the fee was $20 which looked like it weeded out the rift-raft who typically came to get a cheap buzz. Since I went on the 2nd weekend of this event, the winery staffs said it was less crowded than the previous weekend. In any case, the weather both days was perfect--sunny and in the low 70s. Saturday, I visited: Benovia Inman Trentadue Siduri Rafanelli Rued Amista Mazzocco Ridge and a pit stop to lose $40 on the slot machines at River Rock Casino Sunday, I went to: Sunce Harvest Moon Jos. Swan Woodenhead Hop Kiln Holdredge Sapphire Hill Davis Family I didn't take any notes, but the Woodenhead "Morning Dew" PN barrel sample looks like a winner. My other barrel favorites that I remember are: 2006 Jos. Swan Zinfandel "Zeigler Vineyard" 2006 A. Rafanelli Zinfandel 2007 Benovia Proprietary Blend Pinot Noir 2007 Harvest Moon RRV Pitts Home Estate Zinfandel 2007 Holdredge RRV Pinot Noir Best food goes to Mazzoco for their BBQ skirt steak w/ sourdough bread and Benovia for their tuna and mushroom appetizers. |
