I received this Tuesday via snail mail; Gold embossed, etched card...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Antique Wine Company
takes great pleasure in inviting
Mr. David Niederauer

to the tasting and sale of the world's finest collection of Chateau d'Yquem

on Tuesday 7th November 2006 at 7PM

at the David Linley Showroom, 7 Pimlico Road, London SW11 2LL

Please RSVP.
--------------------

On November 7th, 2006, The Antique Wine Company will unveil one of the world's greatest wine collections. An UNBROKEN lineage of Chateau d'Yquem from 1860 to 2003.

This collection, of impeccable provenance, will be contained in two, walnut and suede-lined cabinets designed by the renowned furniture maker David Linley.

The collection spans the greatest events of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. From the Presidency of Abraham Lincoln, the American Civil War and the Russian Revolution to the invention of electricity, the telephone, television, aeroplane and the Internet. Marx, Gandhi, Churchill, Einstein, Picasso, Ali and Mickey Mouse. From the ascent of Everest to man's first moon landing. History celebrated in wine.

The tasting will feature a number of vintages from the collection and be attended by Pierre Lurton, President of Chateau d'Yquem, who will give and address about this exquisite Sauternes wine.

The sale will be by private negotiation after the event.

Collected over 40 years this is a unique opportunity to acquire such a heritage. As a connoisseur of wine, we look forward to meeting you at this very significant event.

I'd be interested to see the vintages they actually are selling. Supposedly the 1873 was impossible for Hardy Rodenstock to find for his landmark Chateau d'Yquem tasting and the Chateau has none, all of it was sold off in barrel (they were tough times for the domaine).

It says "An UNBROKEN lineage of Chateau d'Yquem from 1860 to 2003" whatever that means. Of course Yquem was not produced every year.

wow! you are powerful. I got an invite, but was told it was for trade and journalists only. I will be in Burgundy so sadly I will miss out. Are you going. If so I am beyond jealous.

David that would so be worth flying to London to attend. And if you need someone to fill in.

And then there's Winebrat "sorry but I'll be in Burgundy". Life is so rough.
