The 8th Annual V Wine Celebration
The V Foundation for Cancer Research is a charitable organization founded in 1993 by the late Jim Valvano and ESPN. The mission of The Foundation is to save lives by helping to find cures for cancer by funding critical research. In pursuit of that goal, The Foundation has funded grants in 36 states and the District of Columbia, operating such that no less that $.83 of every dollar raised has been directed to cancer research.
On August 11 & 12, the V Foundation will hold it’s annual west coast fundraiser, the V Wine Celebration. This world-class wine event and auction, set in the magical Napa Valley, brings together people from the technology, sports entertainment, and wine making worlds to raise money for the fight against cancer.
Guests enjoy two days of gourmet food and ultra-premium wines, winemaker dinners, exclusive tours, wine tastings and valley-centric experiences. The main event is a Saturday evening gala dinner, private performance by recording artist Kenny Loggins and silent and live auctions.
This year the V Wine Celebration is pleased to honor Chuck and Anne McMinn of Vineyard 29 as our 2006 Vintner’s Grant recipient. The Vintner’s Grant program allows for supporting vintners to personally get involved in the grant distribution process by designating a specific area of cancer research to fund and then the V Foundation’s Scientific Review Committee finds the best center doing research in this area.
Chuck and Anne McMinn have decided to fund a V Scholar, a young researcher blazing trails in the race to find cures for this devastating disease. Additionally, the McMinns have decided to generously self-fund a pediatric leukemia research grant at Duke University Medical Center.
We invite you to join us at the V Wine Celebration this August. By attending and supporting the V Wine Celebration, you can actively participate in the fight against cancer while enjoying gourmet food and wine, live entertainment in the spirit of Jimmy V against the beautiful backdrop of the Napa Valley. For more information on attending or to download an invitation, please visit www.winecelebration.com or call Diane Shearin at 415.482.0558.

| $1750. Not bad for what you get. And with the profits benefiting the V Foundation it is a pretty good deal.
Thinking about it.

| Jim Valvano is the late coach of North Carolina State Basketball team. They won a National Championship, he was diagnosed with lukemia and then made a famous speech, beautiful and heartfelt, at the Espy Awards. He died soon thereafter and a foundation was created in his honor.
