'shroom Freaks Dinner
"The Taming of the Shroom!"
Tuesday, May 23rd , 2006

Shakespeare may not have had dinner in mind.
Martini House is inviting all self-admitted wine geeks and mushroom freaks to a special opportunity to eat and drink your passions. Local winemakers will be pairing their wines with Chef Todd Humphries' mushroom creations. Order the full tasting menu with the wines paired or select a mushroom item or two to try. Maybe just a glass of wine from our featured winemaker is what you are in the mood for. It's all up to you. Famed wine folks and renowned "mushroom people" will be cruising the restaurant, eager to talk with you about their labors of love.
Mmmmmm...wine & fungi!

Featuring
Bob Foley, celebrated local character and winemaker will be pouring selected wines from his many labors of love. They include Hourglass, Switchback Ridge and, of course, Robert Foley Vineyards.

&

Our very own Chef Todd Humphries and Chef Christopher Litts
will be on hand along with someone "pulled" out of the forest to join us with their fungal expertise.

The food sounds interesting, some of the wine looks a bit youngish.

Now, this is exactly what p!$$es me off so much about most "Wine Dinners" that restaurants host. Martini House is pairing the courses with Foley, Switchback, Hourglass, etc. and the cost is $150. Most Wine Dinners that I see advertised are priced between $125 and $165 and are hosted by wineries more akin to Forest Glen or Frog's Leap. I say "Bravo" to Martini House for putting together a dinner that showcases wines that people would actually like to drink, and keeping the price in check to boot.
Beta testing a new signature.

That's too bad because I was thinking about maybe driving up to St. Helena for the dinner...

David, why not you, Jones and myself at a three top. I am in, but need to know ASAP.

Maybe Bob is interested to round it out as a 4 top.

Boys night out!!!!!!
If it happens I am coming in a limo and can pick you up in Cordelia. Is that a good spot or too far East?
