My question to you Burgies:
Is this tasting a value, just ok or a rip-off?

$1250
limit 18 people

1/25/06 at Spago's in Palo Alto

(Tricia is in LA for that night )

Should I splurge?
Anyone else got the bread and wants to be there too?

It's not a value but it's not rip-off either. You'd have to approach it as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to try some of these wines. If you love Richebourg go for it, but you should probably keep a couple of things in mind:

1. Some of these wines are quite old and may not be your cup of tea.

2. Some of the producers are first rate but others aren't.

3. While there are some classic vintages represented, there's also a handful of so-so years.

My guess is that half the wines should be memorable.

If the $$ are available I would do this. I like to taste wines that I may never taste again. And you would get to drink 2001 d'Yquem again. What's not to like but the CC bill?

Hi David,

No comments on the wine but Gail and I went to Spago last week and thought the entrees were terrible... Very disappointing. Good amuse and appetizers. Not worth the tariff at the end of evening. I dared them to take Gail's entree back to the chef to taste. They are off our list. FWIW. Joe
