Wed, May 25 - Cheap Date Night with Grilled Cheese
Ruth's grill will be smokin', the cheese will be sizzlin' and the people will be sippin'. How good is that?

Gary is one of our favorite producers, well known for his full bodied and delicious red wines. We will be pouring his new Zins, Cab, Petite Syrah and Jazz.

!@#$%! I'd be first in line for this but I need to be at the Pisoni weekend. Perhaps I'll figure a way to squeeze this in. It is a pretty good tasting and I am the CSC president and founder after all.

Just drop off all your champagne in Hollister on your way down to Pisoni skwid. I know of a party happening on Saturday that could always use more champagne!

Sorry NCVL no can do. I don't have enough Champagne to go making shipments to strange places.

Thankfully Wine Club didn't pull a DavidN April fools day and this tasting was as advertised. I was amazed how crowded it was but even more by the couple we heard pass on it saying "$40 is too much money to spend on a wine tasting"! Geez, there was a bottle that was over $400 in this lineup! Our overall favorite was the 1996 Dom. With the dollar shrinking, it's now $116/bottle but we splurged and bought 2 after tasting the much more expensive wines in this lineup. Because it was so crowded, they ran out of many bottles and had to open more which were not properly chilled and likely suffered in our opinion.

Went to Mio Vicino in Santa Clara afterwards and brought in a bottle of 2001 Rosenblum St Peters Church Zin that was excellent!

Corked it and took the rest home to enjoy with chocolate for dessert. Nice start to the Holiday weekend. Wouldn't have known GFD if we ran into him... We were there from about 5:30-6:30.

A BIG thanks to Randy W for posting this as we don't get the wine club emails and their website only lists Sat and Sun tastings... Can't imagine why.
