I will be involved in helping out with this event that Wide World of Wines in Washington DC is putting up. It should be a fantastic event, culminating in a dinner at Taberna del Alabardero (and we all know how good the food is there!).

1st Spanish Barrel Tasting
Friday, June 3rd
Ballroom at the Madison Hotel,
Washington, DC 6-9pm

$99 per person

Saturday, June 4th
Grand Winemaker’s Dinner
Taberna del Alabardero
$200 per person all inclusive

It is our pleasure to announce the 1st Spanish Barrel Tasting organized in the United States. We have been on the front line of fine Spanish wines for the last 15 years at Wide World of Wines that is why we are so excited to be able to bring Spain to you. Don't miss this unique opportunity to meet and converse with these Spanish winemaker’s everyone in the wine industry is talking about.

There will be two evenings of festivities the first will be the barrel tasting at the Madison Hotel in downtown DC. We will present from bottle the 2002 vintage, plus the 2003 and the spectacular 2004 vintage from barrel. Saturday evening will be the Grand Winemaker’s Dinner at Taberna del Alabardero where sixteen wines from the current vintages will be featured.

Reservations are limited. Please respond by phone, fax or email.

All of the wineries are from the Grapes of Spain selections by Aurelio Cabestrero:

Astrales
San Roman
Pujanza
Neo
Guzman Aldazabal
Mancuso
Elias Mora
Barbara Fores
Beryna
1+1 = 3
Genium Cellar
Jean Leon
Masia Serra
Palomero
Paixar
and a few others...

While some of the big, established names from Priorat (Clos Mogador, Dofi, Vall Llach), Ribera and Rioja aren't here, and since the event is generating a lot of buzz in the Spanish wine community, the hope is that next year we'll have some of those guys attend too. This is a great opportunity to try of the smaller up-and-coming producers from all over Spain.
