I'm not sure.
The newsletter is at home and their web site hasn't been updated since December.
If I recall correctly, the 15th was Bordeaux and the 29th was Cali cabs (again!)
but I can't remember what the 22nd was.

I can't make tonight, but I'll probably be there tomorrow and maybe Sunday too.

Incidentally I went to see Sideways in the Cine Arts at Santana Row, so now I know
where that Vintages place is. It looks really swish. I'll check it out some time.

K&L Wines (Both stores)
Saturday 8th January
French Burgundy (sic). I guess that's as opposed to Hearty Burgundy.
Ten wines, both reds and whites, no price or listing available.

They have a nice selection and some knowledgeable people work there. It's worth checking out. I've never attended one of their events, though.

Go to Vintages; ask for Joe; tell him I sent you.

Silly? Yes. A little discount for you? Maybe.

Three guys that used to work at Wine Club opened this place together. Joe is one of them. I really don't know any of the others but Joe has always taken very good care of me.

I went to the Wine Club but ended up skipping the tasting, just not up to it when I got there. Did see some mutual friends of gfleener though.

Stopped by K&L after fixing wires and posts. There were 3 people doing the tasting. By the time I paid and was into the second glass, that little room in the back was overwhelmed with maybe 20 people. They really need to do something about that space.

Nothing this weekend, the moon is in the right phase, the cold is pushing down the sap, I'm going to try and get all the pruning done Saturday and Sunday.

In a virgin store. No? I thought CostCo had everything

One holistic approach is to use a virgin lamb... but those are hard to find also.

At Vintage Wine Merchants, Sat 1/22/05

Rare Torbreck Tasting!!
Torbreck was established in 1994 by David Powell and his wife Christine and is located at Marananga on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley. It is named after a forest situated just south of Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland. David Powell is a former lumberjack who worked in various vineyards where he picked up his oenological skills. His philosophy has been to secure grapes from small parcels of old-vine Barossa vineyards, and then to make hand-crafted wines in a traditional style that reflect their Barossa origins. Yields are invariably low, and the resulting wines are deeply impressive. The overwhelming majority of his vines are dry-grown, nearly all are 80 - 125 years old and are tended and harvested by hand. The wines have an extraordinary combination of power, intensity, complexity and great finesse. The fact that the demand for these wines has massively outstripped supply, makes this is an extremely rare opportunity.
