| Melrose Restaurant in the Park Hyatt in DC is having an Opus One wine dinner on 2/27. Definitely pricey at $200(including tax and tip)per person, but sounds good none the less. Starts w/ passed hordeurves, then a seated 5 course meal starting w/ a Mondavi reserve Sauv. Blanc, then a 99 Opus, 95 Opus and 82 Opus and ending w/ a Rothschild Sauterne. With appropriate food pairings of course. I think it was a turbot w/ the SB, a duck dish w/ the 99, a lamb dish w/ the 95, a squab, hen and ravioli w/ the 82, and a coconut pineapple panna cotta w/ the sauterne. Also, when talking w/ the gentleman from Melrose, I found out that every Sunday night you can bring your own wine w/ NO CORKAGE fee! We dont get downtown for dinner much, but the Sunday no corkage thing might just be worth it. Still thinking on the Opus dinner. Definetly intriguing, have to check the finances. | | |
