| Dear Tablas Creek Supporters,
I hope that the new year finds you well, and that you had many opportunities to enjoy good wine and food over the Holidays.
You'll be getting the Tablas Creek Newsletter hopefully next week, but we have a couple of special events coming up in the near future, and we wanted to let you know about them in enough time to sign up.
On Saturday, January 25, we will be hosting a winemaker dinner in conjunction with Windward Vineyard. Windward makes excellent Pinot Noir from their estate vineyard in the Templeton Gap, and they are family owned and operated. Their philosophy is very much like ours: that the art of winemaking is founded on starting with the very best grapes, and then bringing their juice through fermentation as naturally as possible. This is an enormous treat for us, and we anticipate that space will fill up rapidly. The price of the dinner, which will feature older wines from Pernand-Vergelesses in Burgundy and Château de Beaucastel as well as Windward and Tablas Creek, is $125.
This spring, we will host a hands-on program to give interested members an inside look into the pruning, grafting, and growing of vines at Tablas Creek's nursery. On January 26, we will conduct a field seminar on pruning and grafting with Vineyard Manager Neil Collins and Nursery Manager Laura Wulff. Participants will have the opportunity to prune both vinifera and rootstock, and to graft the vines they pruned. Tablas Creek will care for these grafts, and in April we will invite participants back to the vineyard to pick up a collection of vines that they pruned and grafted themselves! The event is free, but space is limited and reservations are required.
Finally, have you ever tasted Counoise? How about Mourvedre? Or Roussanne? Or wondered what each added to a blend? On Sunday, March 16, Tablas Creek will offer a blending seminar led by owner Robert Haas and winemaker Neil Collins. Attendees will sample wines from the tremendous 2002 vintage, and will be able to produce their own blends. The attendance fee is $20 for wine club members, and $30 for guests. This is the Sunday of Zinfandel Festival weekend, and we wanted to give everyone overwhelmed by all those Zins a chance to experience something new!
For reservations or questions, please contact Carol Ann Lockary, Hospitality Manager, at 805.237.1231 or calockary@tablascreek.com. You can also find more information on out Web site: http://www.tablascreek.com.
Thank you very much! We hope to see you soon.
All the best, -Jason
PS If you would prefer not to receive occasional notes like this over email, just let me know. Your email address will be removed from our list. Thank you!
