| | We are heading to Vegas this weekend. Valentino on Saturday and Michael Mina on Sunday, and we will probably do Bradley Ogden on Monday.. We are staying at the Venetian. I prefer the Venetian to Belaggio, and I have stayed at both recently. The rooms at the Venetian IMO are much more superior. I don't gamble so the floor means nothing to me. My fiance will be at the shops at Caesars while I rest. | | "Everyday is worthy of a glass of sparkling wine" - Andrea Immer MS | |

| | Go to the wine bar at Mandalay Bay (55 degrees+ design). Pretty cool design. I watched a guy drop 18k on wine in 15 minutes. It was the best entertainment I had all last weekend. This is what the salesman said to the man. "Haut Brion... It is just like Opus One... you will love it." It was a mid 40's couple from Taiwan. Saps!!!!! How can you compare HB to Opus One? | | "Everyday is worthy of a glass of sparkling wine" - Andrea Immer MS | |

I've heard it said that Opus is the #1 selling wine in Vegas restaurants. | | | |

| i am heading back out to vegas in afew weeks. i will be there from 10-03 through 10-09 and will be available for dinner or whatever ( i think) 10-04 or 10-05. if there is anyone in the area let me know and maybe we can catch dinner or hit 55 degrees for some wine porn and tasting.
david,
i might need some help with ogden's if we decide to go there. i think we might stay at the bellagio so we might just dine there plus a trip down to delmonico. | | | |

A single diner and staying at Bellagio I'd go to PETROSSIAN BAR.
Located just off of the lobby, the Petrossian Bar was designed with sophisticated tastes in mind. Sit where you can watch the people go by and have a splendid evening course of fine champagne, smoked salmon and none other than Petrossian Caviar. Be sure you are smoking a cigar and you will look really cool. For dessert do one of their vodka tastings!
Open 24 hours daily.
Caviar served: Sunday - Thursday 12:00 p.m. - midnight Friday and Saturday 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.
-----------------------
Either that or go downstaires to the Prime Steakhouse. -------------------------
For a trip back in time go over to the Barbary Coast Hotel (just across from Bellagio) and dine atMichael's. Red flocked wallpaper, no prices on the ladies menus, big high-back chairs and booths, and argueably the best Martini in the US. I suggest this because it is almost like being in a men's private club except there are ladies there. (Be sure to take note of the casino patrons when going through the casino; a slightly different crown than at the main strip hotels).
---------------------------------
Another place for a single guy would be to eat at the bar at the (Original) Andre's French Restaurant down town.Andre's. Joe is the restaurant manager and just give him a chance and he'll talk your ear off. Very wine knowledgable; be sure to ask to go down staires to the wine cellar (a real mess but he knows where every one of the 1000 different selections is). Interesting man too. He has 14 children... all adopted and all problem kids. This guy has a big heart and will be your best friend for the rest of your life it you let him. Tell him I sent you. If you are there on 9/23 you could go tothis dinner. The restaurant is located off the strip at401 South Sixth Street near downtown. You would take a cab; all the better to drink more vino.
Thinking about it I think Andre's would be the best...
unless you want.... not the best but the bust...
Best sight-seeing in all of Las Vegas is at the Rio. No really great place to dine but the scenery will pop your eyes out. If you are young, pretty and female the drinks at the bars are no charge. Somewhere in the Rio (I have never seen it - I have been there but have been always detracted) is one of the longest verticals of Chateau d'Yquem in the world. There used to be a great restaurant there named "Napa" but most of the men never made their reservations. It went out of business. I kid you not! | | | |

| Michael's is great. They will make your wife feel like a queen.
The menu is just good ol' American prepared exquisitly. And like I said you will think that you have stepped back in time.
Food like:
Petite Filet Mignon, Aux Champignon Chateaubriand, Bouquetierre (For Two)
Imported Fresh Dover Sole, Meuniere
Broiled Maine Lobster, Drawn Butter
Veal Piccata, Sauteed in Butter and Lemon
Yummy | | | |

| I would highly recommend the Dover Sole at Michael's, even though it has been a few years since we dined there. Fileted tableside with a spoon, since it was so tender. Caesar prepared tableside too.
Fantastic presentations all around.
