Davidn, what is EPS?

You don't know this? It isn't even off color.

Exploding Person Syndrom.

It can be likened to a dog eating. Give a dog a whole loaf of bread and it can consume it in under a minute. Give a dog more bread and it will keep eating it until it suffers from EDS.

I have decided I am not going to post the "magic woids" here on the thread. Really this will work as long as we don't over use it.

You can send a pm to me and I will send the woid back to you with instructions. I will only send it if you are a frequent poster.

Really, I am serious. This has worked for me many times.

I have woids for:
Picasso in Las Vegas
Bradley Ogden in Las Vegas
Any restaurant that is a member of the Mina Group.

We had a great meal at Picasso 2 weeks ago. Brought our own '92 Araujo and worked with Robert Smith, the Sommelier on wine pairings for the other courses. Thanks to Davidn, we knew the magic word and paid no corkage!

Think I'll stay at the Venetian next time. It talks to my Mediterranean heritage

Anybody have any insight into Como's Steakhouse at the MonteLago Resort outside of town. Zagat describes it as a Joseph Keller (brother of Thomas, and principal of Bouchon) operation, which sounds promising. We are arriving in LV via Lake Mead, and will be spending one night outside of town at Lake Las Vegas. We chose the MonteLago due to the affordability of a two bedroom suite (a non-negotiable need on this trip). Since the place is so new, the website lists only one restaurant as being up and running, and that is Como's. Worth a visit, or should I seek out something else in Lake Las Vegas and/or Henderson? Will have a six year old in tow if that makes a difference. A place called Ventano Italian Corner was also recommended. Anyone know of it?

JimmyV, I stayed at the Montelago about 3 weeks ago, fellow Intrawest resort. As far as Como's, I only went in to look at wine list late one afternoon and naturally it is 2 to 3 times retail prices and I believe corkage was listed at 20 or 25. While nothing stellar, they seemed to have "tried" putting a good list together. Heard nothing about the food while staying in the village. They usually have some early evening music outdoors by the lake shore in the village you may want to consider your own vino/cooler for that as well.

mm: Thanks. I am going to be travelling with as much wine as I can reasonably carry. But given that we will be driving around the desert/Grand Canyon/Rte 66 for 5 days prior to ending in LV, I'm not taking too much for fear that I will cook it in a 120+ degree car. First thing I will do on day one is buy a disposable styrofoam cooler for food, water and wine. After my wife and daughter bogart 85% of the cooler for Go-gurts, water and juice boxes, I'm not sure how much room will be left for vino.

Dude,

You must get another cooler. Styro isn't going to do it in that heat. When I travel through the dessert, I keep it in the A/C passenger compartment. If I have to stop for any length of time, I use those blue ice packs in a real cooler, you know the ones the same color as the portable toilet water.

Perhaps it would be worthwhile to overnight some wine to your hotel, but for heavens sake, don't leave it in your car.

It will be in the passenger compartment at all times, in a cooler with plenty of ice. Each night it comes into the hotel, and each morning I raid the hotel ice machine. I've done it this way in FL and in Napa in the summer without a problem. The only downside is an occasionally wet label.
