Certainly not gourmett but if your parents enjoy the "martini-drinking" crowd they'll have a blast at Palm in Caesar's Forum. Ask for E.J.

And a good compliment to Picasso is the steak restaurant just across the hall Prime. Or head over to Delmonico's.

I haven't eaten at Bouchon but did go take a look at it a couple of weeks ago. It looks like it would be great. I want to do the Oyster Hour next time I'm there.

Oyster hour? I didn't know about this. They have great oysters. We ended up ordering 4 of each type of oyster for each person. All were excellent. Unfortunately they didn't have the kuymoto(I think thats how you spell it). Definately enjoyed the east coast over the west coast this time around. They also have excellent Foie Gras!! If you go there it's a must.

I can second the recommendation for Prime. When I was living in the Mirage that was my favorite and most frequently visited restaurant.

If anyone makes it off the strip at all you must go to Marche Bacchus for lunch. Incredible food and a great selection of wine. It's also a wine store and you can buy any bottle and they only charge $10 corkage if you want to drink it there.

My folks are going to LV next month. They are eating at Picasso, and want two "more casual" but still excellent restaurants. I recommended Bouchon. Anyone have another recommendation?

Was just at Bouchon on Thursday night. Excellent, just lkike the last time I ate there around New Years. I would also recommend the Eifel Tower Restaurant. Excellent food and nice(and over priced) wine list. Great views of the water show at the Bellagio.

Interesting. We're in town for 4 days, and the 2 reservations I've made are for Bouchon and Eiffel Tower

Ate at Bouchon twice, and drank once. Gret evening al fresco. Inside not too bad either. Will be there 09/05 > 09/12 do looking forward again. Would avoid Delmonico, after past experience.

The trouble of getting a reservation at Delmonico has pissed me off so much that I'm refusing to go back.

I really suggest going to Bouland over at the Wynn. Try and get a seat outside by the fake lake to catch the water and light shows during the meal. It was really great.

Back from Vegas

Valentino - great list, try to sit in the wine room in back
Bouchon - Great as always
Zefferino - Sit upstairs overlooking canel. Great list, great food. Ask for David
Pinot Brasserie - Super. High prices, but good amount of food. Try peas and polenta!!
Lutèce - Super. High prices small portions but great atmosphere
AquaKnox - Noisy, bad service. Pan Seared Grouper was not palatable
Postrio - Sautèed striped bass. Not worth the $ 22.00 Very noisy, and not condusive to fine dining.
Canaletto - get a bottle of wine from list of distinctive vintages. nice initmate. Super food.

Forgot to post about my visit to Delmonico in August. Excellent service (waiter was Tyler Anderson - they have business cards?!?) The steaks were to die for, which was to be expected. Ordered an 01 Bressler to go with the meal, as well.

Trying to decided if we're going to return to the same place in Oct or try somewhere new... Meeting up with my youger brother for a few days of gambling and debauchery :-D

Just got back from a long weekend in Vegas (my first time) and it was great. Stayed at the Mirage which was nice, though upon visiting the Bellagio and the Venetian, I saw what everyone is talking about.

Had a meal at Bouchon which was very good - started with a glass of Muscadet off the list and delved into oysters and mussels. My wife ordered the steak frites (tasty) and I ordered braised pork belly (awesome) for our mains, and we each had a glass of a 2001 Pessac-Leognan (Chevalier something or other) which was elegant, balanced and a perfect selection for our food. We skipped dessert because we were tired as we had just flown in from DC.

Also saw a Cirque de Soleil performance at the Bellagio titled "O". I'm not really into the circus-thing, but this was the most amazing production set I have ever seen in my life.

If only the weather wasn't so cold!

Bouchon is a great place - it's amazing how the Vegas versions of the originals are just behemoths.

Glad you had a good time in my town.

There are just so many great places ... not enough time and I even live here.

I'm headed to Sin City the end of February. Looking forward to a few great meals and some visits to the spa. Staying at The Hotel for a couple nights and then on to the Nugget for a meeting I have to attend (Ugh!)

JTown--did the same thing last time we were there. Bouchon and "O." A nice pairing.

We started with Belgian beers, graduated to Absinthe, and then who knows what happened?

I was in Vegas last weekend as well. Stayed at Monte Carlo, decent accomodation that won't break the bank. I dined at the Pink Taco (love that name) in the Hard Rock. Very good, reasonably priced Mexican, but the bar scene outside is better. Only other meal was at Tao in the Venetian. It was good but I was hoping for spectacular. Not a drop of wine to drink the whole time, but I probably sucked down a dozen gimlets over the weekend.

PS. Club Paradise is recommended.

Ricky,

I live in LV, but I haven't been to the Monte Carlo in while.  There may be two choices, Andre's (a French restaurant that has its original location in downtown LV) and the property's steakhouse.Â

In terms of alternatives ...

1.  Smith & Wollensky is in a stand-alone building across the street within walking distance;
2.  New York-New York is next door just south and has a Gallaghers; and
3.  MGM Grand is across from and connected by a walkway to New York-New York and has many, many, many restaurant options (Craft Steak, Robuchon's restaurants, Nob Hill, etc.)

Have fun.

I'm a sucker for magic shows and have seen Lance Burton twice at the Monte Carlo. If you're a fan, I recommend it.
