I think with Hooters it is the D team (or perhaps E team)
I said what I meant, and I meant what I said. Some nights, they have the B team working.

| | So I'm stoked. Going to Vegas next week and I have reservations at Fleur de Lys and Picasso. Should I try for Delmonico or Renoir? | | | |

| Hit the Prime Steak House at the Bellagio, last Monday. Best part was it was on Oracle and the wine was Phelps Insignia 2000.
Needless to say, it was nice......

| Just back from a 48 hour trip to Las Vegas to visit with some of our accounts. We allocated 7 cases of the 2001 Bressler to Vegas and it has landed at: Picasso Prime Spago Postrio Bouchon Demonico and Mix.
It is hot in Vegas in June! We stayed at the Four Seasons. Perfect for us – no casino, private pool, great service, small number of guests and since it is on the Madalay Bay property (at the South end of the strip), you get direct access to everything you could ask for.
We had lunch at Delmonico and Postrio, tasting with the Somms (Kevin Vogt and Luis DeSantos, both Master Somms) at each place. Dinners were at Mix and Picasso. Mix was great and has a great view, but the Somm, Mark Thomas, had a personal emergency and was not able to join us. Picasso was the best meal of the trip. We stopped in to visit Robert Smith before the dinner hour so that the whole staff could taste the wine. Even chef Julian Serrano came out to visit with us (very cool). After seeing “O”, we came back for dinner. Simply amazing.
Wine mark ups in Vegas are not for the faint of heart – 2.5 to 2.75 times retail. If it is a ‘known’ wine, it is even more. I didn’t find a very good correlation between price and quality.
Good people watching. | | | |

| | Not sure if anyone has mentioned this or not, but the best Thai food in Vegas is Lotus of Siam on Sahara. We went there on Tuesday night and it was absolutely incredible. It's a hole in the wall place in a strip mall. When you're walking through the parking lot you feel like there is a good chance someone will try and mug you. The place was only about 25% full, no reservations required. Prices are incredibly reasonable and they have a great German wine list. If you go, be sure to go with what ever the chef recommends. Highlights were the crispy rice, prawn, and beef jerky apps. For entres it was the prawns, and whole catfish. | | | |

| Just returned from a few days in "Sin" City...
Stayed at the new Wynn. Really big suite at not a bad value ($550) though the furniture was decidedly cheap. Electronics were good with 3 flat screens in the room and the hotel was quite well appointed. However, it's hard to figure out where the guy spent $2.6 billion. It's neither as fancy as the Bellagio nor as elegant as the Four Seasons. Service was outstanding. Casino was tastefullly quiet. I think they must have turned down the volume on the slots.
Elton John was an awesome concert. I'm glad I had a chance to see this "stand in" for Celine Dion.
La Reve (at Wynn) was a great show. "O" at Bellagio is similar and better.
Dinner at Michael Mina was fantastic. | | Randy Sloan Match Vineyards

| Haven't been in many years and we're thinking about sneaking away for a couple of days. Mandalay Bay, Venetian and Bellagio are reasonable (about $250) on Friday night but then are twice that much for Saturday night. The Luxor and MGM Grand rates don't go up much for Saturday night - are either of them decent places to stay? Anyplace else we should consider? We're more interested in relaxing and sitting by the pool than gambling. Thoughts?
Thanks!

if its relaxing you want do not and i repeat do not stay at mgm or the luxor. if you not going to game look into the 4 seasons. out of the other 3....mandalay's pool is the best but not sure if its designed for relaxing. personally i think the bellagio has it all over the venetian, but as for pools the venetian is nicer. either place, spend the money and get a cabana, its well worth it.
have fun | | | |

| | If you want to stay at a place with a nice pool and is on the smaller side, I'd stay at the Hard Rock. You can get around easy and the sights are great with good music all over. | | | |

| At
There is a pool at The Venetian that very few folks know about.
Its on the 10th floor in the tower area. Private small pools, and spas. All the settees are secluded within foliage.
This is located just in front of Bouchon, which has al fresco dining, so you could grab a bite.
My SO and I had a couple great afternoons there, and finished up with a great super.

| | I've got the itch as well. I got e-mails from the Mandalay and just today from MGM. MGM is a very busy, big place, but they actually have a nice pool area and it shouldn't be too busy at this time of the year. There is UFC event in November, man I am tempted. | | | |
