Mrs. TJ and I ate here on a Friday night in our 'Lost Food Weekend in NYC' last month. It was an off the cuff pick by Mrs. Tj and she vaguely remembered reading about the place over on chowhound.com. The fact that the sushi chef that runs the place was a woman, well, that sealed our fate that evening.

We were not disappointed.

The place is tiny -- maybe 20-25 seats, if that. There is no place to wait, so people tend to get cluttered up by the door and outside, making parties leaving and arriving a real pain. The tables are REALLY close together so you better not mind listening to over people's conversations (or having them hear your own!) and bumping into people...

BUT, all these negatives being cast aside, the food was great. We accidentally forgot to bring our Dining Diary with us, so this is mostly from a quickie pager note and memory (not that we had any room to break it out and jot down notes!!!).

We had a number of things, but here's a quick rundown of what we remember --

Wasabi-flavored pork dumplings were great.

Spicy grilled clams (chopped) served in shell w/shrooms -- I think it was called 'Dynamite' -- I actually shared this with Mrs. TJ, but then ordered another order of it to have all to myself.

Spicy eel roll is delish
Mount rocky roll (tuna, yellow tail and avocado) was only average
Salmonskin roll maki was YUMMMY!YUMYUM
Ebitan roll. Shrimp tempura roll was DELISH
Hammachi ball was oOK, mainly because the texture was weird and the temperature was wrong

Sadly, you never have enough room to fit enough different items in your belly.

The food was really good, but the cramped quarters bit into the rest of the experience for me. I would go here again, but either earlier in the evening or much later, in order to avoid it when it is really crowded/packed.

Had no wine, so, hence, no TNs link this time.
