My mother used to make a dish for my father that he loved. It was served cold, but had been thoroughly cooked. It was jellied calves' brains. I never had the nerve to try it.

Sounds like an exciting trip. We are pretty adventuresome eaters, but when a friend took us across the bridge from Singapore to Malaysia to eat at this special restaurant, it was a thrill of a lifetime. There were animals in cages all around, including a crocodile in a large cage by the bathroom (almost wet my pants when it snapped at me). My daughter was pretty young then and a deer mouse jumped on her head (we have a cute picture). When we asked what was in the dish we were eating at the time, the waiter pointed at the deer mouse and said, "mother". The food was great, but small animals like that are very boney. BTW, a lot of animals taste like free range chicken, including crocodile. Have fun.

Board_O: You sure you do NOT have some Russian/Eastern Europe in your Family Tree? My father likes that dish also. I will NOT touch it. On the Monkey-thing: It is NOT legal. It is an "underground"-type dish (disgusting & barbaric as it may be). Very similar to the Tiger & likes (Wild Cats) dishes that are VERY Popular but highly illegal in those parts.
