Thanks for the welccome Winetex. James and I had a very enjoyable dinner last night with two equally enjoyable wines. I will let James give the full details of the Barbaresco that he brought along but it was a nice, elegant example with plenty of acid and tannin structure. Dark fruits at the front and black tea at the back. Very nice. I dragged along a baby in the 2005 d'Arenberg Dead Arm Shiraz. Very dark and viscose with black summer fruits and solid tannins. It was no problem to drink it this young but it will get even better with a few years hiding at the top of the cellar.
DC laws on corkage stopped us from opening the Sauternes as it would be wasteful, so another time. Great company, great food, great wine.
Sorry that you couldn't be there TJ, but there are always greater priorities. I hope he is OK. |
