LOL. They do seem to, don't they Tbird. The last time I stayed at the Washington Jefferson and although it was newly remodeled I had to stand my suitcase up in the bathroom and cram LLC's case of wine under the desk in order to walk from the bed to the bathroom without stepping over something.

i just found a place called the Buckingham. it is at the corner of 57th and 6th. the rates are 159 for a studio suite and 179 for a 1 bedroom suite. this seems like a great deal. they have a website:

http://www.buckinghamhotel.com/hotel.cfm

they also seem to have a nice common area that maybe we can use. plus it is not too far from the mark. let me know what you guys think.

The big test is somebody that has stayed there. If nobody from the boards has stayed there then perhaps somebody that lives or works in the that area of Manhattan could stop by one evening after work and check it out on our behalf.

good idea joe. we need a VC recon team.

to me it seems good enough considering how long i will actually sleeping there. did you see the pictures of the rooms. i know pics can be very deceiving but the suites look sweet for $179.

It looks nice enough. But as you say, pictures can be deceiving. That is what happened to me with the Washington Jefferson. Nice enough hotel but room size sucked. I didn't pick up on that in the pictures beforehand.

Ant,

You can't beat the location. This sucker is in the heart of Upper Mid Town. You can easily walk to just about anywhere of interest in the Mid Town area such as Broadway, Rockefeller, Central Park, etc... It is definitely a cab ride up to The Mark though. I've made that walk and it is hike by foot but maybe a 5-10 minute, $5.00-$7.50 cab ride.

I might be interested in switching. Would have to clear it with the boss. Be sure and check to see how many Studio and Bedroom suites they have available that Friday through Monday.

Tony, did you check the cancellation policy? If it is not prepaid and 48 hours cancellation then we can make one here with no problem and if jb can sweet talk the people at The Mark we could switch there later.

Thanks AI.

BTW, I didn't mean to impose upon you jb. If you have the time to discuss the issue with somebody at The Mark while you're there to finish up the menu and wine pairings it would be deeply appreciated. I figure about the time you commit to a 5K restaurant tab might be the appropriate time to ask "hey, how would you like to earn an additional 10-15K?"

FYI, My check went in the mail this morning.

No imposition at all. I am supposed to discuss the menu with the chef tomorrow. I will bring up the rooms to the restaurant manager when I talk to him.

Thanks jb.

Are you going to PM everybody or create a post when the wines are selected? I'm trying to keep my hands off everything I submitted.

I am contemplating not revealing the wines. You would only know the wine that you brought, if that. I may change my mind, but I do love blind tasting.
