Kpak, they've been pretty quiet since their return but they chatted a bit about it on this thread:

Someone please tell me how to make this a link with text, not an entire URL.  thanks!

I gotta tell you... Tricia and I are just now "recovering" from two-weeks-plus of having a great time with great friends. There is so much to tell that I have no idea where to start.

We flew non-stop from San Francisco to Frankfurt on United Airlines. I have hundred-of-thousands points so I "bought" first class tickets. We had those new "sleep pods" for seats. BFD! IMO definitely not worth the extra cost. There are so many adjustments on how you want to sit that you sacrafice comfort for all the different positions. Business class looked just as comfortable if not more comfortable; just a little more crowded. Get two seats together on either window side and you'll have all the privacy you need.

We caught the next plane to Venice. There we took a water taxi directly to the Danielli Hotel. We hadn't been checked in for more than an hour when, as we were standing out on our balcony doing some people watching around 9:00pm. Then, with the lagoon in the background, we see Mr. & Mrs. RRder walking up the prominade. Screaming from our balcony we caught their attention. They wanted us to come out and play but we were absolutely exhausted and the sight of that big soft bed was calling me to get in. We said "No" but set up something for the next day.

It's called "second wind": About an hour later we found ourselfs walking through the streets of Venice. We found a nice little restaurant up an alley through a hallway and up the staires in an outdoor courtyard (I couldn't find the place again if my life depended on it). We split a veal and artichoke dish and a Caprese Salad and had a glass of pretty nice wine that the Somm recommended by the glass.

We headed back to the Hotel around 1:00am (it was almost an hours walk back) and all I can remember is unlocking the door to our room.

Next day was to include a meal at a Michelin starred restaurant. R8der; how 'bout you chiming in about that day?
