| I need a quick tip for a restaurant in or near Calistoga. My bosses' boss is coming into town, and wants an insider's recommendation. Not fancy extravagant $$$$, just nice and tasty and $$$. I haven't been there in many years...and would appreciate any thoughts.

| Restaurants in Calistoga seem to be a bit inconsistent these days. I often like All Seasons. Cooking is usually good and they have a wine shop attached where you can pick out a wine from a large selection and enjoy it for a small premium ($10?) over retail.
That said, it is only 15 minutes to St Helena with Fancy (Terra, Martini House, Meadowood), mid-fancy (Tra Vigne) and casual (Cook, Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen, Go Fish, Market).
We had a very good meal at Calistoga Ranch, but you have to play a few games to get in if you are not a guest there. | | | |
