I have arranged a family trip to Napa during the third week of June, bringing the wife and the two boys (ages 4 and 2).  I'm staying in St. Helena near Dean & Deluca.

Since the standard winery crawl won't work with the kids, I was hoping for any suggestions:

1.  Any wineries that would be kid friendly?

2.  Any restaurants that are kid friendly?

3.  Any locations/spots for picnics that are recommended?

Since the goal is just to relax and take in the change of scenery (since we live in Las Vegas and since I just broke the bank during Spring Mailer Hell), I don't mind keeping it simple.

Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks everyone.

I think this has been asked/answered a couple times before... its deja vu all over again...

Anyway... Safari West is a MUST DO - you and the wife will never forget all the animals, and the 4 year old will likely remember them as well. Arrange a tasting appointment at Pride, then you can have a picnic on one of their tables up there - truly stunning views, and even little kids like picnics. Sterling has a tram that is interesting to kids.... I'm sure there is more, that's all I can remember off the top.

Thanks, I did a quick search, but didn't see anything on point. I will look around some more.

We were just there a month ago.

1) We made and kept appointments at Lewelling and Neal.  When I requested an appointment, I informed them we had the twin 4 year old boys with us and Grandma to help watch them.  Both places were ok with that.  The tasting at Lewelling is great with kids.  We tasted in their backyard on a picnic table.  The boys were being boys running around the yard.   Neal happened to have a basketball hoop out that kept the boys busy.  If the Richardson's at Paloma would have been available, they were going to allow us to bring the boys.

2) Every place we went to was kid friendly.

3)  I had an afternoon appointment at Pride for a picnic but we had to get the boys their nap.

Last summer on a trip to Sonoma we went to Safari West and it was worthwhile.

We were going to do the Sterling tram, but it was not functioning.  They were still going to charge the standard tasting fee per person and bus people up to the top.  We said no thanks.

V Sattui built a Castle somewhere near Calistoga, but it was not open while we were there.  You could call them for more info.

Al,

Fantastic info, I remember seeing bits and pieces of this info on the board. Thanks for throwing it all together for me.

Cheers.

2) Taylor's Refresher.  A great place for kids. Picnic tables outside in an enclosed area for kids to run around in.

Bistro Don Giovanni has tables on a patio looking down on a small water fountain courtyard area.  Another safe place for kids to run around.

The other places we went to, Mustard's, Cindy's Backstreet and Market all have crayons and paper for the kids.

I found this at everyplace we went to in Sonoma last summer.  Syrah, Zin, Zazu and other places I can't think of right now.

If your guys are into Thomas and railroads in general... Not far from Napa on the Sonoma side is Train Town. Our niece and nephew loved it. Enjoy! If one of you decides to let the other wander, Ravenswood and Buena Vista are not far. Joe

Second to train town in Sonoma.

The Geyser right outside Calistoga.
