It was a difficult decision betwen Legal Seafoods and Jasper White's Summer Shack; unfortunately, we probably picked the wrong one.

The Summer Shack is a huge place.  It's very casual and family friendly...kind of like a Pappadeauxs or Joe's Crab Shack.  There is a huge lobster tank and a steamer that could fit a person in the middle of the restaurant which is cool for little kids (even adults).  The kitchen is sort of "open" allowing diners to watch people in the kitchen do prep and such.

Prior to our food arriving, our server brought out a basket of cold cornbread and butter (eew).  I had the lobster roll with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob.  Just my opinion...but I thought a lobster roll is a waste of good lobster on a piece of bread.  Again, not my thing.  The corn on the cob was pretty darn good.  My daughter had the half steamed lobster...and it was the consistency of a rubber chicken and very overcooked.

Service...our server was the average chain food server.  But I have to give props to the manager who spent almost 20 minutes with me helping me find the nearest Trader Joes which had nothing to do with his job.  He even went back to his office and printed me a map and directions from mapquest.Â

Overall, the food was a big disappointment and this was our worst meal of the trip.

I have only been to the Summer Shack at the Mohegan Sun in CT, and it was miserable as well.  I am baffled as to why someone as talented and reknown as Jasper White would waste his time with these places.Â

I live 2 miles away from Summer Shack and wouldn't go there if you put a gun to my head......well maybe if you put a gun to my head but I'd stongly protest.  The travesty is when your at summer shack your 5 minutes away from some GREAT seafood at a little place in Davis Square called Out Of The Blue.  Next time Bella, next time.
