| Canal runs east/west while Water runs north /south, If you are including the entire area of Manhattan south of Canal street and west of Water, then there are many excellent restaurants to choose from. In Tribeca alone you could choose from:
Tribeca Grill
Bouley
Landmarc
Danube
The Harrison
Nobu
Nobu Next Door
Dylan Prime
Ecco
Il Giglio
Scalini Fedeli.
Gigino
Et al..All of which merit consideration. If you could narrow your focus I could be more specific. Invest in a Zagat Survey, it is THE essential guide to dining in NYC. | | | |

| | Oops. Sorry. When I saw the reference to "downtown", my eyes saw "Canal", but it registered in my brain as "Chambers". The area just below Canal is Tribeca ...Tri (angle) Be (low) Ca (nal). There are many fine restaurants there as listed above. However, of that list, the only one that qualifies as a MUST SEE, assuming one is planning a trip with a limited number of meals and wants to hit only the best ot the best, is Nobu. | | | Beta testing a new signature. | |
