| The restaurant is beautiful with high ceilings and a great view of 6th Avenue, quite stunning in the evening. The tables are a little close together, so be sure to request a booth. First the wines. The wine list extensive but badly overpriced, with most of the wines being 2.5 to 3 times retail with the big name wines possibly being 10 times retail. Screamin Eagle was $2200-$2900 a 750. BYO is not allowed. We found a relative bargain and had two bottles of the 2000 Hendry Block 7 Zinfandel at $55 each.
The dinner salad to start is a real winner- as nice a salad as you can find, unless you're adding things like foie gras. The onion rings are also worth ordering. I ordered the ribeye, which was a little tough and not nearly as good as the strip steak all the others oredered. The strip steak was as good a steak as I've ever had with the exception of Peter Luger's. The spinach was excellent, though a touch less cheese might have been better. The skillet potatoes and onions were extremely crisp and tasty. We had no room for dessert.

| I ate at this restaurant this past December. The best steak, outside of PL of course, I've ever had. Also the best au gratin potatoes I've had to date. Agree that the list is ridiculously over-priced, I had a 375mL of '97 Stags Leap Fay.
I will definitely eat there again when I'm back in the City. They have a wonderful private dining room downstairs. And a great cigar bar upstairs.
The decor is great - love the big windows. The server told me the main dining room used to be a bank lobby.

| Prices are pretty standard for a prime steak-house, around $35 depending on the cut of beef. I don't know about seafood entrees, but I'm sure they have at least a few.
I did have an amazing cajun crab-cake appetizer, wonderful sauce.

| Dee Lincoln who owns this and other Del Friscos, is a long time big bidder at the Napa Valley Wine Auction (often #1). She frequently buys huge bottles to feature in the restaurants. Did the decor feature many oversized bottles? I think she bought a lot that was called the "James Bond Lot" - it was this piece of furniture that opened up to display a bunch of mags, eached etched with a scene from one of the Bond movies. I think it was destined for the NYC restaurant.

| One thing I liked was the two wine cellars- one for storage and a second for wines to be served fairly soon. This second cellar was kept at 60-61 degrees. I doubt you can smoke there anymore. | | | |

| One more caveat. Parking on the street at dinnertime is virtually impossible. The parking garage was $37. | | | |

| Board O -
Are both the cellars on the main level? I remember the one with glass front - very impressive.

| We sat at a booth right in front of the glass front cellar. That was the serving cellar. It had a digital thermometer we could read from our booth. | | | |

| I love this place. Yes it's expensive, especially the wine list and especially California. Steer toward Spain, Australia and even Italy is somewhat more reasonable than California. The Torre Muga & Numanthia were reasonable.
The fish dishes are excellant. If you go back you must order the shrimp cocktail with 3 differant sauces for an appetizer. But everything, crab claws, crab cakes, Salmon, Lobster was great.
As several others stated, the best steak outside Peter Lugar's.
