Dined at Shula's last night. Have to say, I was pretty impressed. They have the Morton's style menu where they wheel the meat cart to the table (which I'm not a fan of) but my beefsteak tomato salad and Kansas City strip were both delicious. So was the Key Lime pie I had for dessert.

I had a glass of Washington State cab that was pretty tasty, although the name escapes me presently. I liked the lounge area located outside of the main restaurant area, too. Service was a tad bit slow especially considering they weren't that busy, but not so much that it ruined the meal.

Recommended. I'll definitely return.

I've been to Shula's (in Fort Lauderdale) twice,
the first time in 1999 and spent 1/2 the dinner talking on the phone, negotiating the price for my house.
The second time I've been there in 2002 and wasn't impressed. I made Ruth Chris my "steak place", they have reasonable BYOW policy and service always superb.

Ruth Chris has become a place "where everybody know your name" and quite often the corkage fee is dropped all together. I add it to the tip anyway.

The Ruth's Chris is right near our hotel (Quorom), but we're going to head to Bern's tonight. Perhaps RC's tomorrow

Years ago, I had a number of good meals at Mise en Place in Tampa. IIRC, they had a good wine list with moderate pricing.

I don't know how they are today but it might be worth checking out if you get tired of steakhouses.

Another bonus - had a voicemail when I got off the plane today from Shula's. Apparently they wanted to be sure my experience was a good one and offered a phone number to the manager to provide any feedback I may have.

I don't think I've ever had a restaurant do that. They have earned my repeat business.
