| Is there anywhere half way decent to grab a bite to eat near the airport? I am being put up at the Sheraton next week for one night since my flight arrives a little late.

| Kuletos (Burlingame) qualifies as halfway decent and is pretty close to the airport. It's BYOB friendly, as well :-) | | | |

| Jason, there are quite a few places. When will you be here? If I'm not in NY we could perhaps organize a mini-OL.
Inside the airport are some pretty good restaurants as well - Bradley Ogden's place is one.
In Burlingame, Ecco & Pisces are both highly rated. | | | |

| Unfortunately my flight doesn't arrive until almost 8:30pm on Thursday. In the late morning on Friday I am heading up to Sonoma for a competition. I won't really have any free time, though I wish I did. | | | |

Pisces is very good. It is mostly fish. It used to be a Michael Mina restaurant. Really, really small.
Inside the airport there are tons of places to eat. shopping and eating at SFO Bradley Ogden does have a Yankee Pier there.
For something different I would highly recommend Max's Opera Cafe of Burlingame Old Bayshore Avenue, Burlingame (650)342-6297 Max's Be sure to read "Max's Rules" | | | |

| If you go the Max's route, you simply MUST eat a pastrami sandwich there. | | | |

| Max's seems to have a cult following, similar to Original Joe's. I've never caught onto the attraction, so I'd recommend against it.
Jason, too bad. Then you might want to try and hit Yankee Pier IN the airport. Its pretty good, particularly by airport standards. | | | |

| Ate at Yankee Pier the other evening on our return departure. Was okay, and quite a surprise for Airport food. | | | |

| Ditto Max. Casual dining, big food, modest prices. My favorite is the "bite size ruben". The food will add about 10 pts to your cholesterol. Their motto is "This is a bad place for a diet." | | | TN posted on Cellartracker"

"Bite Size Ruben" is what I order also and it is still too much to eat for me .
Damn good though.

| --------- I see they've changed it from a free meal to a round of drinks. Rules at Max's: Quote:
1-This restaurant is run for the enjoyment and pleasure of our customers, not the convenience of the staff or the owners. 2- You get a free round of drinks if anyone on our staff comes up and says, "is everything all right?" When we ask questions, they'll be good ones. 3- You MUST get your mustard and ketchup before your burger, sandwich or fries. 4- We hate soggy fries. If yours aren't crisp, the way you like them-send them back--maybe the kitchen will get the message. 5- Corned beef and pastrami are good because they contain some fat; however, with today's dietary consciousness, our corned beef and pastrami are now extra lean. So ask for a little fat for that traditional taste. If you want something with no fat, how about our turkey or turkey pastrami? 6- The turkey is always fresh. Period. 7- Our iced tea is table brewed. Just pour it over a big glass of ice. 8- You'll love our breads and pastries. They are made fresh daily in Max's Bakery and Kitchen. 9- Warning: We bake our own sourdough crusty as can be. If you like soft bread, eat the middle. 10- Our ice cream sauces are a point of pride. They're made in New York by a certified chocoholic who refuses therapy. They are simply the best in the country. And we don't boast idly. 11- We bring ice cream sauces from New York City. Eat here. Save the airfare. 12- This is a bad place for a diet and a good place for a diet. 13- Our desserts are excessive because nothing succeeds like excess. We encourage sharing if you're not super hungry. 14- Substitutions are okay by us; don't be bashful, you've got a mouth, use it. 15- We use cholesterol-free oil for frying and sauteing; anything can be grilled fat-free. 16- If you are a single diner and are greeted with the expression, "just one?", dinner is on us. 17- We agree that the customer is always right. If there is a problem with your food or service, call for the manager--we'll fix it in a flash. But, if you finish your plate--it couldn't have been all that bad! Now, could it?

| Max's tonight. Jersey Cheesesteak (Pastrami instead of normal beef)... PHENOMENAL. I'm going to pop. Finishing off a chocolate eclair we got to go. The eclair is as big as my foot. | | | |
