Can any one suggest a romantic B&B and restaurant in the Harper's Ferry or Berkely Springs areas of West Virginia?

There used to be a B&B called 'The View' -- super nice people run it and it has a great view. I haven't been in about 5-6 years though. Canaan Valley has lots of places to stay and it is remote, and remote can be very romantic. Plus, the Golden Anchor has pretty good food as does this lodge type place called Oriskany Inn. Plus, the hikes in Dolly Sods are incredible. If you're feeling adventurous, go climb Seneca Rocks and drive out on some 'highway' made out of dirt and some gravel out to Spruce Knob.

Feb. 15: I was born and raised in WV but on the other side of the state. My friends own one of the most beautiful B&B's anywhere. If you ever find yourself in Parkersburg, check out theHarnett House.

TJ & Brent-

Thanks! Brent, I have been through the Parkersburg area; I had a good friend who went to college at Ohio U. and my late brother went to Kent State, so the road trip from Dc has been done. Pretty country; I particularly liked eastern Ohio.

TJ, did I recall you once posting about a fabulous restaurant outside of Frederick that also had an inn?

Feb15--

There is a really good restaurant, surrounded by an OK inn in West Virginia, near Frederick, yes. I believe it is called the Bavarian Inn (here is a link to their site --Bavarian Inn website ).

The dining was really quite good, I remember going there in the fall and they had extensive selections of game. So that part of our stay they was quite wonderful. The area surrounding the Inn is nice, too as you can hike around and so on. My only complaint about the place was that, when they designed the place, they did not use much noise insulation between rooms. If you decide to go and stay there, I would recommend requesting a top floor, preferable at a corner unit or end of the hall. This way you will most likely very much enjoy that part of your stay as well.
