| Doesn't Jack's have several small private rooms (where one can fullfil some of their fantasys)?
Seems to me it might be good for a small wine dinner.

| | This is all very helpful...thanks. Looks like it's going to come down to Myth vs. Slanted Door. May have to draw straws. | | | |

Drawing straws would be good, but calling to see where you can actually get a reservation would be even better.

| | Winegeek is correct. The Slanted Door is probably the toughest reservation in the city of San Francisco. | | | |

| I ate at Jeanty at Jack's about a year ago and thought it was good, but agree there was nothing about it that would make me say I have to go back there.
Farallon , on the other hand is a place I've been to numerous times and would love to return. If you're from out of the area, my guess is the ambience is like none you've enjoyed previously. Yes, it is primarily seafood, but they do a great NY Steak and usually have a Rack of Lamb special. Check their website for their menu and their impressive wine list. You can't go wrong.

| The movie "Mrs. Doubtfire" used Farallon for all the restaurant scenes.
Now there's a useless bit of trivia.

| | Reservations were a piece of cake at both Slanted Door & Myth....9:00pm on a Saturday night in early November! | | | |

| If you're an Asian food lover go with The Slanted Door.
Otherwise...
(I guess this was a little obvious).
And remember; 9:00 in SF is 11:00 where you are.

lol @ Richard. There's something so obvious about that statement that it just cracked me up. | | Joe ----- Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.

| | Too little too late, but I loveJardiniere. Food and service is over the top, and I've never been disappointed with a wine that was recommonded off the list. | | Skippy | |

Skippy,
Ouch! That cork almost hit me in the eye.
One is not supposed to open a bottle of Champagne like that!

| | Not a word about Boulevard. Does nobody go there anymore? I've been there a couple of times and wasn't disappointed. | | http://scmwine.blogspot.com - My wine blog. http://scmwine.wikispaces.com - your guide to the Santa Cruz Mountains and Santa Clara Valley

I'm not sure which scenes you are referring to, but the climax of the film was shot at Bridges in Danville. Also, the pool scene was shot at the Claremont Hotel in Oakland. | | TN posted on Cellartracker "I drink no more than a sponge." François Rabelais www.tanglenet.com

I like it. Although my new favorite SF restaurant is Tartare, owned by by George Morrone, who started Aqua with Michael Minna. It's a great restaurant, which for some reason has not gotten the "buzz" like some others...

| | Tartare closed (supposedly to rename/relaunch restaurant as "George" but if you are buying that ...). Morrone is a great chef but based on his recent track record (Redwood Park, Tartare) his business acumen leaves much to be desired. | | | |

| | Tartare is closed and is unlikely to come back. The staff is gone and has found other jobs (this from someone who worked there). Very good food and crappy glassware. | | | |

| Had three meals at Tartare - one was great and two were pretty good. Morrone's Tuna Melt is sinful and it will be missed! Had a Sine Qua Non dinner at Boulevard two weeks ago and the food was wonderful if pricey. Ate at Cortez for the first time and had an astonishingly good meal - both food and service were first rate and the tab was very reasonable.

| Tartare
I heard that they were "re-tooling" the formula and changing the name to Geroge. The website is up, so I assumed it was still open.
I guess I won't be making a reservation there next week! | | TN posted on Cellartracker "I drink no more than a sponge." François Rabelais www.tanglenet.com
