Harlan has sent out some odd things in the past, but they just sent me a card, very heavy stock, nice envelope, and all it says is
Quote:

The greatest use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it.

Am I really out of it? Couldn't they save the postcards and price the wine $5 less? Is it more about narcissism or the wine? What the heck?

In contrast, they sent me an EMAIL regarding shipping of my wine. Why didn't they just send this worthless quote in the email and save valuable natural resources for something useful?

I must be in a bad mood.

Yessir. When are you going to be there? We'll be there from April 18th to the 27th. If you're willing to take a drive about a half hour north, try the following:

Cafe Chardonnay on the NW corner of PGA Blvd and Military Trail. Wear a jacket. Make a reservation and be sure to request to sit downstairs, by a window if possible. The upstairs can get too hot. Great food and wine list, but pricey.

1 mile west of Cafe Chardonnay on the south side of PGA Blvd is Off the Vine. Same owners, but informal. Food is very good and less extensive. This place also has a wine and food store attached. Browse the wines before dinner. If you don't find something you'd like on the wine list, pick a bottle at retail from the store and they'll charge you $15 to serve it.

Take PGA Blvd east to Route 1 north into Juno Beach. Captain Charlie's Reef Grill is the east side of the road in a shopping center. Excellent wine list. Veuve Cliquot Brut is $47.95. BYO corkage is $10. Go for the hog snapper.

Closer to Boca- near 6th Avenue on Rte 1 north is Falcon House. Excellent food and wine list. Noisy.

On Okeechobee or Palm Beach Lakes Blvd (Look it up in the phone book.) is Raindancer, a decent steakhouse. Corkage $10.

Best chicken wings and beer place- The Wing hut, on the east side of Military Trail just north of Forest Hill Blvd in West Palm Beach.

I could go on but time limits me.

La Vielle Maison, on Palmetto Park. By far the best restaurant in Boca.

If you want Greek and are willing to head south a little, Greek Islands Taverna on Oakland Park and A1A is excellent.

For upscale Mexican, Eduardo San Angel on Commercial is excellent (although I have not been there in a while).

I forgot Mark's in Mizner Park. It is quite good and closer to his original restaurant in Norht Miami than the one on Las Olas which I dislike.

The Sunday paper had an article on this event, which occurred in St. Helena in October....
some interesting recipes at
Build a Better Burger
(don't be put off by the Sutter Home entry page...)

Didn't see Bob on the list of judges...just Cat Cora and Michael Chiarello....

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is... .ps - friends don't let friends eat farmed salmon.
