I'll be in Norfolk 9/6-9/9. Any recommendations on places to dine near, or w/in a reasonable cab ride from, the Norfolk Marriott Waterside would be appreciated. Depending on my schedule, I also might be up for an impromptu offline w/any VCers down there.

In Norfolk, not far from you, there's a nice area called Ghent . We're fond of The Winehouse, with its tapas-like menu and single glass servings. I'm not sure I agree with some of what they have to say about wine, but it's a decent joint nonetheless.
