My wife and I are going to Bermuda for 4 days in a few weeks and need suggestions for restaurants. Obviously, a good wine list is a must. Any recommendations out there?

Thanks

Chuckus -

To the extent I can, I am happy to help.

I am not sure what your preferences are, but, perhaps not surprisingly, most lists here tend to lean more towards France and Italy than CA/WA.

With that said, some excellent options can be found at:

Waterloo House
Tom Moore's Tavern
Four Ways Inn
Little Venice

Additionally, two great beach-front options (and less wine savvy) include:
Mickey's
Coconuts

You'll find that prices here are generally fairly high, but you probably already knew that. Where will you be staying?

Let me know if you have any questions, or need help with anything else. Above all, have fun!

Cheers,
Chris

Four Ways Inn is expensive but probably the restaurant on the island. There's a cooking school at the Stonington Inn. Their restaurant is also excellent. Some of the smaller pubs are also worth a visit, especially one in Hamilton a half a block up the hill from where the ships dock.

One place I urge you to try is Dennis' Hideaway. It's in Dennis' house at the end of the road that runs past the airport runways. And it's free BYO. Dennis cooks course after course in his kitchen and the food is very good. Not many tourists know about this place, but we never miss it when we go to Bermuda.

My son spends a lot of time in Bermuda on business, but I can't reach him now. He's on a flight to Scotland.

Marriott's Castle Harbor is our favorite hotel on the island.

Board-O -

Some people find Four Ways overrated, but I've enjoyed it when I've been there. I personally would rate Tom Moore's and Waterloo above it, but I am only one opinion.

The pub I believe you are referring to is Hog Penny - a great, old-fashioned British pub.

I've never been to Dennis', but I've heard that it would be wise to bring a defibrillator with you .

It must have been some time since you were last here (5 years?) - Castle Harbor is no longer. A newresort has emerged.

Cheers.

Yeah, it was Hog Penny. I'm surprised Marriott sold their Castle Harbor property. There always seemed to be plenty of people there. We stayed there three times.

You mean Waterlot, don't you, at the Southampton Princess, or was it called Waterloo?

We have both a Waterlot and a Waterloo. Waterlot is indeed part of the Southampton Princess. Waterloo is in Hamilton, overlooking the harbor, and has a reciprocity relationship with Horizons Cottages and Coral Beach Club. I've never been to Waterlot, so I can't comment. Waterloo is a great place though, IMO.

The hotel business is tough down here - this is not a great tourist desination during the winter and I suspect Castle Harbor was not getting many business travelers out there.
