| | And for me, North 110 is better than anything on your list - but as you have made your choices, that is fine. | | | |

| J cocktosten: actually, I have not made any choices yet nor reservations. I appreciate your thoughts. I printed out the North 110 info (menu, address, etc...). Still a few weeks away, have not decided on any places @ all. Still looking for some reasonably priced places besides Hi Life.
P.S.: A lunch place or 2 would also be appreciated. As would a nice breakfast place, I guess.
Thanks!
I think Chef Allen's, we will do, most seem to praise it. And, they have a Chef's Table.

| We had a dinner with Mark Neal, his wife and Gove at Chef Allen's last month - food and service were both very good - Corkage is high $25 as are the prices on their wine list (no real surprise there)
Himarshee Bar & Grill in Fort Lauderdale is another excellent reasonable priced place, as is Armadillo Beach, Cafe Seville - None of these places are inexpensive but they are not extremely expensive either.
Although I have not been to either of these in a while, Sunfish Grill and Eduardo de San Angel always get excellent reviews -
Lunch and breakfast places are sort of iffy here as basically you have real dives or resort-like expensive places - Not sure what you are looking for on that front -

| Thanks for all your suggestions.
I am looking forward to Chef Allan’s. I may go for the chef’s table.
We also went out with Mark Neal & Co a # of times, great people. We were going to get together in Dec also. But, it was just too busy for us, could not pull it off, had other things already planned for the dates they were in the NY-area.

| We were very impressed with OLA in South Beach a couple of months ago. Great nuevo latino food with a solid wine list having lots of reasonably priced Spanish wines to match with the food. I'd gladly go back the next time I'm in town.

| Chef Allen's deserves all the accolades he received from papers & reviewers. And, thanks to all that recommended the place in this thread. Edward went out of his way to recommend places to me. We had the chef’s table with 2 other couples, had a great time. The dishes were great to WOW, a 6 course tasting menu.
J cocktosten: I wanted to go to North 110. But, a friend in the area talked us into going to an Italian place in South Beach on Washington (I think). I don't remember the name of it, but it is on the corner next to a popular club. Of course, the women on line to get into the club were hot as hell, this is Miami Beach we are talking about. :-)
In any case, the place was over priced though not bad. If every dish is cut by $10.00 or so, the place would be great. I like my friend, of course, but no idea about food/dining. Luckily, I did not listen to him regarding Chef Allen's as he recommended we don't go. And, I should not have listened to him regarding this Italian place. But, he lives in Aventura, so I thought he must know. Guess not.
Also, we made it to Shooters (on the water canals) for lunch/happy hour. Parked our boat & went to Shooters. I liked it, food was very nice, fresh, very reasonable for what it is, for they they serve/sell.

| | The name of that Italian place on Wash Ave in South Beach that I found to be overpriced is Osteria del Teatro. | | | |

| We dined at Cacao in Coral Gables last night - it was excellent - My in-laws had been there once before and wanted to take us last night - Tuesday is free corkage night - normally $30 - they also have a very nice list, with some bottles that are not marked up too badly.
We brought: 2005 Sandler Wine Company Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2002 Bodegas Roda Rioja Roda Reserva
The sommelier, manager who also waited on us - brought us into their wine room/cellar which has a full bar and a table inside it to check it out etc, opened the Sandler in there while we chatted and let the Roda sit in there while we had the Sandler to bring the temperature down a little. I had checked the wine list on-line and they did not have any Roda wines on the list but the first thing I noticed when I opened the list was that they had the Reserva and the Roda I on their list from the same vintage - this has never happened to me before, and I was a liuttle embarrased but it was a non-isssue -he said he loved that wine, did we know that he carried it and I think it actually earned us points in his estimation - in any event happily it was not an issue.
He suggested we have dessert in the wine room - we had a chocolate souffle/molten cake - with white chocolate and rasberries and they gave us 4 glasses each of: Viñedos de los Vientos, Alcyone, Atlantida, Uruquay 2006 Santa Julia Tardio
No charge at all for the dessert wine or the dessert. Totally cool and everything was quite good. The food and service were excellent - I can see it being quite loud if crowded on a weekend though.
