3 days in Buckhead, Atlanta, on business.

Recommended restaurants-
Aria
Blue Pointe
Dining Room RC

If I were single I might never have come back. Southern boys don't know how good they have it.

I lived in Buckhead for 11 months. I'm convinced it took 11 years off my life.

Oh yes we do

Seems you found the "pretty" crowd.

Of the three, which was your fave?

DdB-

All very different. Delicious food. Blue Point wine list was least impressive, but a more chic atmosphere.

Our hostess in Aria caused a massive spike in my adrenaline and testosterone level. Must be the home grown peaches.

The RC lounge was a sight for sore eyes. Perelli had a blow out party and we crashed it.

We stayed in the Buckhead Ritz-Carlton, but didn't eat there. We ate two upscale pretentious places that we thought were vastly over-rated. One was called Seeger's. I forget the name of the other one. The last night we went to South City Kitchen and thought the food was excellent and the wine list well-selected and fairly priced.

I was there last year for 1 week on business - didn't get to eat at a whole lot of really nice places, but remember the Buckhead Diner having a really good meatloaf (venison?) and a super banana cream pie. It's a little trendy there, but it was great. There was also a restaurant called 'Meritage' (in Buckhead) - which was pretty decent, though the wine list was nothing special.

Looking for a hotel near the airport (Atlanta) for next Monday night. Any suggestions?

Q of H - Wish I could help, but since I live here, I have never stayed near the airport. Best advice I could give is to stick with the reliable chains.

If you have a chain/reward program preference, I would be happy to look up the possibilities in the phone book for you.

Are you just passing through or will you be here for an event?

Board-O: The restaurant you are thinking of is Bacchanalia. Our difference of opinion on that one is well documented by now.

This weekend, we ate at a restaurant called La Tavola from the same group that does South City Kitchen. They are doing some great Italian food and offer an interesting wine list at attractive prices. Not surprised you were so pleased with S. City Kitchen.

Cheers!

Wow...great place! The corkage was a little steep, but the food and staff was right on!

QoH -

I think there is a Westin in close proximity to the airport. In fact, it might even be called the "Westin Airport," but I'm not sure about that.

DdB - Just passing through on the way to the Masters. Meeting the King the next day, had to get there Monday due to flight snafus. What's happening in Atlanta Monday night?

Thanks for the rec's, I found a $50 room at the Amerisuites ATL Airport through hotels.com. Great website.

Queen - Not aware of anything special wine-related happening Monday night but we certainly could make something happen. As far as I know, I am the only person from Atlanta on VC but I'm always up for getting together.

Let me know if your schedule will allow time for socializing and I will see what I can do!

I actually get in late tonight, then head to Augusta tomorrow. We'll be around, though, until next mid-next-week. Spending two days at the Kiawah Island Club, then back through Atlanta.

Anyone going to the Masters?

The Masters and then Kiawah? A charmed week for sure.

Sadly, none of my corporate contacts came through with tickets to the Masters this year. Had a great time last year.

Enjoy Kiawah. What a peaceful island...

Well, the Masters is always fun, although it is mighty cold and rainy here. My Monday night 55 minute flight to Atlanta turned into a 6-hour flight from hell (and I was on a such a good streak ) and ended up having a cheeseburger at 3am at some greasy karaoke joint adjacent to the airport hotel called B-52's.

Delta really sucks lately.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate tomorrow.

Flying has gotten so tedious the last few years. In addition to extensive security checks, the airlines are cutting back on staff and just about everything else. A flight that used to be 2 hours 20 minutes, is now scheduled for 3 hours so they can say they were on time.
