| Does anyone have any experience or recomendations for wineries in Livermore? I've never been to any of them so all suggestions would be welcome!
Thanks! | | | |

| | IMO not a single Livermore winery makes a world class wine from any varietal. I would go to Steven Kent, Murrieta's Well, and then Concannon if I were you. | | | |

| surfer,
I just had dinner last night at Steven Kent. It is the only Livermore Valley winery trying to make "luxury" (translate higher priced) wines. The tasting room is very nice.
Steven Kent Winery
Wente Bros. also has great grounds. You can play golf in the vineyards there.
Concannon also has a great historical sight.

| | You're a grape truck driver? Well, the world needs ditchdiggers too. | | | |

| Thanks Jones and David! I'm actually going to be playing golf @ Wente. Figured after my round I could stop by some of the wineries. Thanks for the recomendations I'll give these a try while I'm out there.

| | Agree with JW1, there's no world class wines coming out of Paso. One nice stop however is Chouinard, they have a very small estate vineyard as well as producing wines from grapes sourced from elsewhere in the state. Some very nice wines. | | | |

We do know the definition of "trying", don't we? It means "not doing it".

| Lilac,
That's exactly what I was thinking last night at Steven Kent. We were within a couple of miles from Livermore Labs.

| David - if you start seeing increasing cases of Thyroid Cancer in your area, it might be time to get a lead vest.
If you start to see three headed frogs, it might be time to get a lead vest.
If you start to peel your skin off at night like an old suit, it might be time to get a lead vest.

| Lilac,
I will say this; the rule in Silicon Valley is to have a very good water filter system in your home.
In south San Jose (near the area where Jones used to live) there is five square blocks where 17 babies out of 22 born in a year had significant defects. Ground water contamination from two huge IBM and HP plants. (Maybe this explaines Jones' personality )

| | I only did four years in Blossom Valley so I doubt toxins from IBM are to blame. | | | |

| I think it was the old Fairchild plant that was found at fault for that davidn. Very sad, I have a few friends down that way who received settlements, sad, sad, sad.

| | I've lived near the Livermore Valley for 30 years and have never visited a winery there. I have easily visited hundreds of wineries elsewhere, so that tells you what I think of them. | | | |

| I know I am a little late on this thread, but I wanted to add my vote for "no world class wineries in Livermore"... and I live there!
The one place we enjoy is White Crane. Over the past few years, we have gotten to know the winemaker and we think he produces some of the best wines in Livermore. Ironically, the wines we like are when he buys his fruit elsewhere. My only complaint is his prices... way too high for Livermore wines. | | Brad (formerly know as PilotBrad)

| Bump.
Any new suggestions? I've been asked for some winery suggestions in Livermore. I've never been. Other than the obvious response - "go somewhere else", any place to suggest? Are Dan's suggestions - Steven Kent, Murrieta's Well, and Concannon - still the places to vist?

| | That's where I'd still go but don't expect much fireworks. Disclosure: I have an economic relationship with the owner of Concannon. | | | |
