| This restaraunt is located in a small shopping mall that connects the Luxor and Mandalay Bay. If you are driving, use the Mandalay Bay entrance the look right for Valet parking, after the valet takes your car, you take an escalator up to the mall. Very convenient.
The restaraunt is open to the mall, very simple decor, but nice. My wife and I went there for lunch last Friday.
We started with some good Calamari, the breading was not heavy or greasy. My wife thought it might be the best Calamari she's ever had.
I had the Cappellacci di ricotta e spinaci; Pasta pockets stuffed w/ricotta and spinach, with tomatoes. They don't tell you on the menu and it only took one bite to realize, this is handmande pasta made at the restaraunt. It was really good pasta. I would order this dish again.
My wife ordered the Bucatini all'amatriciana; Thick hollow spaghetti w/onion, pancetta and tomato sauce. It was good, but we both thought it was a little salty. The waitress came by to ask us how we werre doing, my wife mentioned the small salt factor. The waitress immediately offered to replace it, "if you don't like it, you don't have to suffer through it, what else can I get you?" So my wife ordered the Fusilli alla "Giorgio"; Cork screw pasta w/shrimp in a spicy cream and tomato sauce. This was very good also, the cream sauce was not heavy and the shrimp were juicy, not overcooked.
Since it was lunch time, we didn't feel like a bottle and did not look at the main wine list. They had about 6 white wines by the glass and 8 reds by the glass, from $7 to $10. I had a decent Barbera and my wife had a good Shiraz.
It was a nice meal, nothing too fancy, good service and very good food. | | |
