btw do you have a decanting cradle and if so do you like it? i am thinking of getting one someday and was just wondering if this is one of those wine purchases that really push one over the geek edge.
I had one of these cradles probably 10 years ago or so. It finally hit the rummage sale box. Unless your hands are really shakey it is a pain in the ass to use one. The exception is if you are decanting a lot of Port. A Port bottle is usually pretty difficult to see through and I have encountered many a bottle of Port with one or two inchs of almost solid sediment in the bottom.
You wanna be geeky? I'd buy a Champagne sabre before I'd buy a cradle (actually I did). My next geeky purchase will be a set of Port tongs. | | | |

| thanks for the advice david. to get the sabre i would have to own some champagne my hands are steady but i was wondering if the cradle made things easier. as i side not i finally found my mini high-powered led flashlight, that i used to use for decanting. i lost it last year at an offline and just figured it was gone forever. my wife had it in her weekend bag from our last trip out to jersey. i love this mini light for decanting, beats the heck out of a smelly candle anyday. | | | |
