I would agree with that, Jones. And thank you for supplying the '97 Lorenzo Chard. Outstanding.

I'd be up for this too. I don't know that I have any American cult wine though (I've got Hillside Select but no Bryant/Harlan/Araujo/...)

That's the problem. It works for people who are on the mailing lists, but it creates double standard if others are involved. The people not on the mailing list will have to pay a high market price to get the wines to provide, which may be beyond the reach of many forumites. But it is also unfair for the people on the mailing lists to contribute wines at winery cost because it eliminates the opportunity cost of selling the wines for a higher price.

The economics kind of get in the way. Someone commented on the WS Forum that the 69 Chappellet goes for $1200 at the winery. I was more than happy to open 2 for the BAWE group because I paid $6 or $7 for it in 1972.

I would love to share three or four bottles with anyone here who wanted to come with or without contribution.

That's what the stuff is for; sharing with other people who know what wine is. Not flipping or getting smashed!

Davidn,

You never cease to amaze

On my California trip I might just set up a tent in your backyard.

The hill is pretty steep TCK. You also might have some competition, although I'm sure others will just camp out right in the wine cellar and not bother with the tent.

I agree with DavidN. I would be happy to contribute for a good group of wine loving people.

Oh well, I guess it's back to the original plan; I park my RV in Jones' driveway - like Uncle Eddie in "Christmas Vacation".

What "driveway"? Jones lives in San Francisco. Space is too valuable to waste on driveways.

Agreed. When TCK is out here we are getting the private room at Masa's (or another venue depending on the vote of TCK) and tasting some serious wines. I'm thinking verticals.

I actually have a rather short driveway. Not nearly enough for a RV however.

Jones will you have TCK organise your cellar in drinking window order? You could also have him evaluate your cellar and drinking habits and figure out which wines to sell because you will never get to them.

A very good idea. I have way too many whites that need drinking over the next couple of years. He could get it in order for once.

WOW. If you guys contribute the wine, can I contribute a Northwest ticket into SFO or SJC (for, uhhh .... me) and some genuine enthusiasm?

What I lack in Cal Cults I can try to make up somehow with tasty apertif or desert wines (?)

The generosity and cameraderie among wine folk is amazing ...

Cheers, y'all

I am in if it is a Sunday evening, but it has to be mid September or later. I have a few cults lying around.

TCK...

Just for the record...

It's cousin Eddie, not Uncle Eddie.
