I've not done it yet, but we just acquired some at a winery and I thought I'd try to add to it, as such...

Is there something that a wine website or individual seller should say or disclose that would convince me that they've cared for the wine properly and that they know that it was stored properly from whomever they bought it from?

Did that make sense?

Thanks!

There is no 100% guarantee, but doing some research (on this wine board or another) is an excellent way to find out which merchants/wineries have good policy/customer service regarding this. It would also depend on which state you reside in, and seeing as the weather is warming up quickly here on the East Coast, shipping season seems to be drawing to a close. I hope this helps.

Thanks! That does help. Primarily, go by mass-recommendations.

But you said "warming up"? Does that mean a case sitting in a hot warehouse for a day or two during shipping will damage the wine? Hence, don't ship during warmer months?

Yes, a wine consumer, I would eschew shipping during the warm months - why spend hundreds of dollars on wine and risk getting it spoiled during transit?
