| David, Jan took this class a year ago and loved it. A lot of very good information and they poured some pretty impressive wines as well (the one that really stood out for Jan was a Musigny - don't know the producer). | | Heater Allen Brewing

| | Several years ago I took a one-day "CA State Fair Judging License" course at UCDavis. All they poured us was wine that had been made by the students in the eunology dept. It was also doctored up quite a bit for demonstrating things like different levels of acid and the like. The wine was pretty bad but for the purpose it was fine. Besides, I don't swallow. | | | |

| | I *might* be up for the course May 6-7. That's my bday weekend, I might make this my present to myself. | | | |

| I just registered Sasha and myself for the May 6 - 7 session of Introduction to Sensory Evaluation of Wine. If more come up to Davis, we should get an offline going.
UC Davis says they still have plenty of spots available for this session. | | Randy Sloan Match Vineyards

| Sasha and took this course last weekend.
Great course, very interesting with in my opinion just the right amount of technical info and practical experience. It was really cool to learn some of the reasons we smell, taste, and see what we do in our favorite beverage.
The first day was devoted primarily to background and discovering the aromas in wine. The second day was tasting numerous examples of common characteristics of many varietals and styles. The instructor was quite interesting and personable, John Buechenstein (currently ofSauvignon Republic) and guest lecturers included Ann Noble, professor emerita at UC Davis and developer of theWine Aroma Wheel.
By the way, downtown Davis is a very fun place to hang out and eat. So many interesting ethnic restaurants within an easy stroll. We're very glad that we decided to stay up there rather than commute each day for the class. | | Randy Sloan Match Vineyards
