A rather simple question I have but dont recall it ever being discussed here...... How many average pours will a 750 of Champagne pour. My glasses are what I would consider normal size and with a normal pour how many glasses should I expect? I am trying to finalize my wine list for Christmas and want to make sure I have eniught bubbly. TIA.

Eight 3 ounce pours? It depends a lot on your flutes. A lot of flutes are scrawny little things and you can get by with a much smaller pour. With Riedel Somm Vintage Champagne stems, you need a beefier pour for the benefits of the glass to come into play. Either way, I would plan on 8 pours per 750 mL. Having a little extra is a rather easy problem to rectify.

6 is a good estimate unless you have the CSC(the Champagne Slut Club) in the house. Then estimate two. <sort of kidding...>

Isn't skwid the one who said a champagne magnum is good for... two people?

I assume the bottle size would be magnum for that estimate

Yes!

Unless they are thirsty, in which case you will then need two magnums.

One really shouldn't pour the Champagne more that half way up the flute.

I have this vase, one bottle goes about half-way up, so David will be OK with it.

don't listen to Skwid as he doesn't even use stems, he just uses a pewter funnel.

I had to read this question a few times before I got it right. First I thought that you had 750 bottles of champagne and was asking how many people can you serve

Usually it is recommended between six and eight glasses for a bottle, no matter which wine. But of sweet wines you can pour at least ten glasses per bottle.

We were at a restaurant the other night with 8 people. With our champagne the waiter poured eight decent sized (but not overpours) glasses from one bottle. I thought there would be a little more but no.

I was flipping through the remaining pages of my wine factoid calendar from 2005 and I discovered a tidbit where President Thomas Jefferson determined that a standard bottle of Champagne would properly serve 3 and one seventh people at official Presidential functions....FWIW.
