| | Why is it that people do not use an "a" in wine speak when referring to the size of the bottle from which they poured?....ie "Tonight I served a '47 LaFleur from magnum" or "Parker changed the score when tasting from bottle"...Shouldn't this be "from A magnum"? or "from A bottle"? This has always aggravated me for some reason and I've yet to figure out the logic behind it....or possibly it is a quirk in the English language that I do not know about and will feel very ignorant when told. | | | |

| This occurs too frequently and in this exact circumstance to be explained by chopping to expediate typing. Methinks it is a pretentiousness thing, but maybe it isn't.

| I do it for shortcuts on a regular basis. If you review my posts, most of them are a jumble of shortcuts, fragments, etc. I merely do it in the interest of saving time, and all of my English teachers would be thoroughly appalled.
Then again, maybe I was just uneducated or miseducated by them. Who knows. No pretentiousness here though.
But a lot of sentence fragments.

| Most of my correspondence is electronic, and as a result, written rather informally. When I write actual letters now, I need to make a concerted effort to sound appropriately formal.
And oh, I always use an indefinite article when referring to a wine bottle, unless its a Nebuchadnezzar, which I just refer to as "Big-A$$ bottle" | | | |

Hee-haw! Hey dude, we can drink wine and hang out anytime. Just as long as we keep our convo away from topics like politics and religion and all that, we'll have a great time.
