Does anyone know if there is a company that rents Riedel glasses for a large party (80+) in the San Jose / Los Gatos area???

I'm sure there is. Maybe not Riedel but I'm sure Spieglau would be acceptable. If you have some time before the event I will rent you Riedels for $6 each and you won't have to return them (what I am really saying is that I think I can get you all the Riedels you want to buy for under $6.00).

Call Restaurant "O" and ask for their catering department. Ask them if they will rent them. If they don't ask were they rent them from.

I live up behind La Hacienda. Where are you GFD?

There are a couple of rental outfits that have all sorts of Riedels for rent. Any decent caterer should be able to point you in the right direction. Call Sage Catering in Marin County (I highly recomend Sage by the way) and I am sure they will get you the name of the rental outfits.

David, I am sorry what is "O"? I live in the Santa Cruz Hills (Mnt Charlie Rd) and also have a house in Willow Glen. The Event is in Oct. (16).

There is a rental company in Napa that rents all lines of Riedel and they deliver or you could pick up.

That's why I had trouble finding the web site. Thanks David.

Used to be Buca La Pastalla, which would have thrown you off even more...
Didn't realize they renamed the place to O. Buca was one of my FAVORITE restaurants in the area! Kind of ironic because it was next to Winchester Hardware. They've got a great back room if you want a wine party for 6-10 people. I need to come back and visit more :-(

I saw the wine glasses at Costco the other day and was pleasantly surprised. It is the size of the Bordeaux Somms and it comes out to about $4 each. Of course, they are pretty big, but I was surprised at the quality and price.

Restaurant "O" is the best. They dropped off the glasses and then picked them up and did all the cleaning. I used them for two events (Back to Back). Everything was there on time and in perfect condition.

The Restaurant Riedels are great. DavidN helped me out last week with a dozen of the bordeaux and champagne glasses. As far as I can tell, they look just like the Vinums (or pretty darn close). For the price (about $5/stem), these are awesome. (David - thanks again for your help with this!)

And the timing couldn't be better - the day I went to pick up these glasses, I broke one of my Spiegelaus. I snapped the stem while drying, and then cut my thumb on the stem. My thumb still hurts, but the new glasses certainly make me feel better.

Mike,

I hope that bloody stump of a thumb is better. The perils of drinking wine!
