| Wow! The response has been great..thank you all. It looks like it's going to be a very interesting couple of weeks...thanks for the list Futronic! I had just read a comment about the Footbolt Shiraz on another thread(bottles under 15U.S.) and just looked it up on Vintages.com....looks like I'm heading to the LCBO for a bottle after work tonight. The availability feature on their site is great. Does anyone have any thoughts or notes on Calina Merlot Reserve 01? A lower priced wine (17cdn) but I figure..hey..have to start somewhere. I'd like to start putting what I'm tasting into words and not sure on what exactly I'm tasting.
Thanks again for the pointers!

| No problem Tim.
Just a note, that regardless of what the availability on the website says, the 2001 Footbolt won't be released until Saturday, June 12th. What likely appears is either the order quantity for those stores, or they still have a heck of a lot of 2000 Footbolt around.

| Oh those damn details! You were absolutely correct. It was the 2000. Any thoughts on it? Is it worth giving a shot? | | | |

| The Windows on the World Book is good and concise. If you are looking for an intro book with a little more detail, I would suggest the Wine Bible by Karen MacNeil.

| | I thought I drank a bottle of the 2000 at some point, but I can't seem to find my notes. I think you're better off waiting for the 2001, however. | | | |

| Futronic....about that wonderful list that you put together for me.
Would you consider all those to be opened now (near future) or are their some their that you let sit for a while?
Thanks again! | | | |

| All of them are short term drinkers. The whites within a year or so (to maintain their freshness), the reds within the next 2-3 years.
If you're looking for recommendations for longer aging, it gets a little more difficult to find stuff in the sub-$20 bracket, and nothing in the $20-30 range has really piqued my interest in the recent catalogues. Going higher is an option, but I tried to work within the given constraints.
