I opened this bottle last night to drink with Meatloaf, potatoes and carrots. Upon opening the wine had a very interesting nose - that of scorched earth and minerals - very much like a Spanish red from Monstant or Priorat. Then there was a mean green vegetal streak in the nose (a bad sign). Unfortunately that green-ness was also translated in to the taste of the wine. Unripe fruit flavors that verge on cough-syrupness were prevalent, and though I've tried to give it some time, it did not really improve in the 1 hour or so it was left in the glass. I had high expectations for this bottle, hearing so many good things about the producer, maybe it was an off-bottle. I loved that it had distinct terroir in the nose - it was too bad the fruit did not match up to it.
